* '''FreeOrion 0.4.9 has been released''' - Windows and OSX installers are available [http://sourceforge.net/projects/freeorion/files/FreeOrion/FreeOrion%20Version%200.4.9/ on SourceForge] and [https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/releases/tag/v0.4.9 on GitHub]. Linux users can use the [http://snapcraft.io/freeorion snap package] we provide on snapcraft.io, or acquire from your distribution if available (which might not be the case as FreeOrion still depends on Python2 which will no longer be supported by many distros). If neither is possible, Linux users will need to build from source. Source tarballs are available from [https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/releases/tag/v0.4.9 GitHub] (please use the source tarball file with version and build number in the filename, not the links automatically created by GitHub). See the [[Compile]] page for more instructions. See [https://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11515 this post] for release notes.
