Ah, and second thing: could you please put some screenshots on the page/ link to them from the MainPage? That's the first thing I'm always looking for if a page is about a program, and they tell a great lot about a program.

Multi language support for this wiki
View days ago I saw a good approach for multi language support in wikis at opensuse.org (http://www.opensuse.org/Download). They just added a block of list entries at the begin, enumerating language links, that could/should be supported. Translation is done by the community. I'm willing to support it for the german language.
Here is the example from that site - still with original links from there ;-)

Is it dead
Hello, is this project dead? No news for half an year, no new releases...
- No it's not dead. Development is ongoing. The lack of releases is because none of the recent development has been of things that the player will see, and the lead programmer, tzlaine, doesn't think it's worth putting out a release until something player-visible is done (though I shall re-suggest doing it anyway). Check out the forums for ongoing discussions, including a recent spurt of art contributions. Geoff the Medio 14:01, 12 Sep 2006 (EDT)
Edit the front page
Typo fix: The front page says "Welcome to the FreeOrion Wiki. This is an online resource containing documentation for many areas relating to the project. FreeOrion is an open-source, platform independant galactic conquest game in the tradition of the Master of Orion games." It should say "FreeOrion is an open-source, platform independent galactic conquest game..." E, not A, in Independent. --65.66.84.25 01:30, 2 Feb 2007 (EST)
Spam
Please disallow anonymous editing. It just doesn't do any good and the spam is annoying. Also, I just removed spam from http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/User:Geoff_the_Medio/Requirements_Edit and had to remove some apparantly-non-unicode characters from the article to make mediawiki accept it. Please make sure you use a modern browser or and or text editor. Also check out http://wikiwatch.freegamedev.net/ maybe that's interesting for ya --Qubodup 07:57, 27 February 2008 (EST)
- Anonymous editing already is disabled. If you check the recent changes, all spam edits are done by registered accounts. I'm using the latest version of FireFox, which doesn't have any trouble saving that page with those characters. I didn't put them in though; they're there because the page is a modification of another older page that has them, which was probably first written in MS Word. If you want to remove the bad characters, feel free, but I reverted your first attempt because you just removed the bad characters without replacing with better ones, and also deleted a few words between bad characters which left odd / confusing errors in the text. Link to current Quick Play Guide
The main page should show a link to current Quick Play Guide instead of v0.3 Quick Play Guide. Then the former redirects to the latter, until there is another (v0.4 ?) guide. — MyttO ✍ 03:55, 4 March 2008 (EST)
- A link on the main page that says just "Quick Play Guide" which links (indirectly or otherwise) to a very out-of-date guide is a bit misleading. By calling it "v0.3 Quick Play Guide", it's clearer that the guide is specific for v0.3(.0) and not v0.3.8, isn't it? If there was an up-to-date guide available, certainly we'd link to that, but if there's just the older version that's linked to in such a way that it looks like it could / should be up-to-date, it might confuse people who aren't yet aware of the version we're at and that it's not the same as v0.3. "Quick Play Guide" could be a page of links (not a redirect) to specific versions of the guide, though, as these links could be specifically labelled with version numbers ...
