We're almost there, but PR#4388 is still open, and I'd like to have that last PR merged and cherry-picked before I build RC1. Therefore I'll postpone RC1 a bit (one or two days).

Can #4388 be merged until then? Is there anything preventing the merge? Otherwise I could do it myself of course...

Ok, I'll merge that branch before I build RC1. So you can add more changelog stuff to that branch if anything else somes to mind until then.

As far as I'm aware it's just a question of the best/clearest wording for a pedia entry. It's ready for merge short of someone suggesting clearer wording or exactly what needs to be changed to make things clearer.

PR#4388 has been merged, there are no open release blocking issues or PRs left, and there have been no request to postpone RC1, so I'm planning to build RC1 tomorrow (Thursday Feb 16th) evening. As I'm quite busy, I might not get around to it,in which case I'll do it on Friday.

The release management issue on Github has been updated accordingly.

If anything comes up in the last minute, or anyone thinks that RC1 should be postponed, please post a respective request here in time. Otherwise I'll go ahead as planned.

A few fixes did/will go in, so a second release candidate will be necessary.

Deadline for RC2 is Tuesday, March 7th 2023. Please make sure to merge all fixes/PRs until then.

If something that needs to go in, but can't be finished in time, please post a respective request to postpone RC2 here in this thread. Otherwise I'll merge all open PRs assigned to the release milestone and marked with the cherry-pick label and cherry pick them to the release branch before I build RC2.

Looks like we need another release candidate.

For one, I missed that Ouaz had committed another update for the French translation to the release branch. The problem was that Ouaz committed that change after I started building RC2, so I didn't see it.

Second, another UI issue turned up, see #4428, which IMO needs to be addressed for the release. While certainly not downright game-breaking, it's ugly and annoying enough to not want to have that in an official stable release.

If #4428 can be fixed until Tuesday, I'm going to build RC3 then, otherwise I'll give it one more week until Tuesday the week after. Provided no other issues turn up, of course.

So, if anyone thinks there is an issue with RC3 that needs fixing before we can declare the release, please speak up now! 8)

oops, I fired up a build based on master and got confused until i noticed the version; so probably everything is fine :mrgreen:
edit: yes, everything is as good as expected :)

yikes. sigh. was just triggering building with the newest commit and the "correct" future tag for snapcraft (v0.5 instead of v0.5-RCx). and as additional QA i fired up the v0.5-RC03 snap.

most important, the gysache bug is there. so it is not OK to ship.

another thing; i just noticed i get a lot of of spam on the console on startup in the snap build. i will recheck with a local build later if this also occurs.
