Fourteenth game on the multiplayer slow game server

#1 Post by o01eg »

Thirteenth game will be ended soon so I'm opening thread about next one. The server will continue 0.4.10 releases, not sure if next one even will be planned.

I'll start test game at Wednesday 18th and actual game at Thursday 19th.

Changes from previous game:
  • Systems per player: 50.
  • Tech cost: 200%.
  • Production cost: 100%.
  • Natives: Low.
  • Monsters: Low.
  • Specials: Low.
  • No diplomacy.
  • No teams.
Currently there are 7 registered players:

I'm in.
If Magnate doesn't play, I want monsters and specials low.

I'm in, someone has to put the slow into the "multiplayer slow game server" :)

Yes, we didn't play with monsters for a long time.

Not yet sure. Maybe decide it when more players will join.

IIRC
10th, 11th and 12th games were free diplomacy with allied victory allowed (all ended up with early alliances that lasted 'till end of game).
Some of 7th, 8th, 9th and 13th were fixed teams, some allied victory with more than one winner allowed.
So for last seven games we have not played no diplomacy.

I'd like no diplomacy (peace and alliance disabled, so no way to share vision of gifting stuff) or free diplomacy with maximum 1 winner. For a change!

But whatever majority says.

I'd be happy with no alliances with low natives & low monsters. We are playing a bigger map this time?

We'll be playing with aprox. +15% more distance between empires (from sqrt(38) to sqrt(50)).

No diplomacy game i can do. Everything else fine with me.
Any code or patches in anything posted here is released under the CC and GPL licences in use for the FO project.

Look, ma... four combat bouts!

I would like to try even closer alliances:

1) Shared research at 400-500% the cost. I guess an easy way to implement this would be to unlock research for all empires in the alliance once one empire has it.

2) Shared production. Add production items "Stockpile transfer to <empire>", which transfers production points to that empire.

People here mostly want no diplomacy and no alliances.

Never seen research code. Looks like something doable in the server-side but not sure about it.

It definitely cannot be implemented in 0.4.10.

All that would be good to have, but it isn't implemented not even in master, less in the release. But patches would be welcome at any time.

I fear you get discouraged to play this time if we don't do fixed teams. Let me tell you that, with this game, with these people, it's more than probable to play without alliances and have a great time. Plus playing without (fixed or any) alliances doesn't mean you'll have no one to comment on your moves or ask doubts.

I cannot even find where in the code or focs the stockpile transfer happens.

Fixed alliances reduce the impact of bad starts, and make sure that we all end the game at about the same time. The latter is important for when the next game starts, as noone needs to wait a month for it to finish.
