WAR, atleast that should've been declared several weeks ago when our navy blockaded the system of Aestoria, a mid sized colony of the Crystalline Empire to our northern frontier. Undeclared conflicts allow quite a substantial surprise first strike on any realm, as in this case. Despite the surprise, a gunboat would be unfortunately lost to defensive orbital fire.

In spite of this loss, the system would fall eventually after a swift but heavy invasion of the world. Their people would make a fine collection for the League.

The Crysto-League war, has begun, or rather already began weeks ago...

Meanwhile in the south, steady progress has been made restoring stability to the region. In one instance, after a brigade of our armed forces were dispatched to a system, the sparsely populated yet rebellious world surrendered without firing a single shot. Why can't all worlds surrender so easily? It would save a ton on rebuilding infrastructure.

Invasion Scales Up

The swaq empire kept rapidly advancing and engaged the orbital blockade on Thuban, a major Chato world. Occupation of the world is inevitable, and once again, Chato government would like to warn others of the growing power of Swaq and suggests to mobilize ASAP to prevent it from snowballing further.

Troubled South Reaches

Meanwhile, Hyperant empire appears to ignore the ultimatum and engage the Magnate worlds, as well us unknown neighbor. It's up to ultimatum signers to enforce it now: but, thanks to swaq's treacherous aggression, there is less power to dedicate to it. Will the southern conflict spin out of order while Swaq pursues short-term gains? Perhaps Oberlus, a swaq's unquestioning ally and one of the northern neighbors of Hyperant, will soon find out.

The Spitfire Analyst

Data from the galaxy keep flowing into our processing gardens. The situation is explosively spore-adic. Connect to our electrophytohormones transmitter for the latest and more accurate information on the everblooming war situation.

The context

The Schizophrenic Multiworm being that grows in the southwestern part of the galaxy has developed multiple personality disorder. Its unique mind believes it's conformed by different "citizens", while those citizens, individually, are as intelligent as a pinworm. Our processing outputs the conclusion that it's crazy and dangerous. However, not as dangerous as some other of our closest galactic neighbours. In any case, those worms conquering the fellow machines of the southeastern empire, which suffered some form of CPU meltdown due to a vicious virus, constitutes a threat to all sentient beings in this galaxy. The Potchine Government has ensured to this plantation that they will try to make the worms understand the situation and be less be heretic.

The Eastern Chato Empire has begin to spread its propagandistic gormoshit. They first asked for privacy and to set borders between our empires than we know now are quite advantageous to their interest, and detrimental to ours. They also rejected all and every petition from our government to form a pacific plantation together with our fellow robotic comrades of the Swaq Empire. They always answered they were no interested, they first needed to know more intel on their surroundings. But they never scouted or asked for such intel. Later we discovered they had been hell bent on fast growth, neglecting any military development. And finally, after the Magnate Empire sudden demise, this Chato scum quickly sent there their ships to despoil what they could, to gain even more advantage over their neighbors.
Advantage for what? Now we know. Our processing gardens are 96.69% sure of one thing: they never intended to be on good terms with us, they just tried to gain as much time as they could, developing their population and industry in their very planet-rich space without losing any time on forming a peacemaking army, until their warmonger industry could not be stopped once it begun pumping out edge-tech warships.

That was unacceptable. Our friendly allies of the Swaq empire resulted the same conclusions: The Easter Chato Scum should be stopped on their desires of galactic domination.

The Swaq Empire intelligently manoeuvred their robotic army to sensible positions around Chato Scum targets, to be ready in case of need if an attack was necessary.
The Chato Scum detected some of those ships and quickly grew wary. "Why?", they asked. We let them get some of the intel they were false waiting for: "To stop you from oppress the whole galaxy". They continued on their excuses and began accusing the Swaq Empire of being untrustworthy. Untrustworthy of what? Of letting the Scum grow and spread to every edge of the galaxy and every homeworld of the other empires? Well, we think the Scum is right on that: we won't let us be conquered by fishy gormoshk troops.

However, they still tried to save their crystalline asses from their incompetence. They knew they had many colonies but close to nothing to defend them. So they proposed a diversion: an ultimatum to the Southwestern Schizophrenic Empire, to leave the deceased machine remnant worlds in peace, and in case the ultimatum wasn't heard by the Multiworms, we all shall attack them while the Chato Scum kept growing and building up its long due defenses. Well, it was true tht we didn't like the ongoing situation in the South, so we said OK, and other empires accepted too. However, the Swaq Empire rejected participating into that charade. Their CPU are quite good indeed.

The Current State

Suddenly, the Chato Scum realized they were now interested on alliances with whoever they could. So they put to full throttle their gorsmoshit propagandistic machinery against the Swaq Empire and started gathering help from other empires. They even asked our own Potchine Government, long allies of the Swaq Empire, to break or alliance and join the Scum. So now you want to ally us, huh? While before you were reluctant and distrustful, even to the point of being insulting to our honor. Well, hear this now: you can trust us in two point, we never break our alliances, you self-interested fishy scum, and we don't let us be thrashed by scheming gormoshiters.

In a turn of events, the Heretic Potchines in the Northwest, suffering from some sort of fungus infection in their processing gardens, thought that they should help the Chato Scum. Or at least that is what we understood when they threatened us to come and pollinate our worlds with their flabby microsporangia if we attacked the Chato Scum. Well, it seems that the failed deceiving strategy of the Chato Scum makes the Swaq capable of controlling the infestation by their own. So we are happy to wait in our worlds for that sterile pollen that the Querens Empire has promised us. Come to us, little flowerpots!

Proclamation

Interstellar News Corporation

In light of recent foreign events, the Chief Generalissimo has decided to broadcast a televised message to the galaxy.

-Broadcasting Starts-

"Rulers of your petty realms. We intend to strongly make clear that no interference shall be made in our own internal affairs regarding the Crisis of the South. The Emperor of the region has already signed a power sharing agreement, whereby assisting in ridding the region of several rebel factions, the Emperor will administrate the region as an autonomous mandate within our borders. Any calls for the region be made a "Demilitarized Zone" can be regarded as highly naive and contrary to the interests of not just our realm, but every other realm in the region as well. Our intelligence agency has intercepted encrypted messages originating from the region that several major rebel factions are planning terrorist attacks against many space-faring neighboring galactic realms. By pursuing Operation Enduring Strength, we eliminate the likelihood of that happening."

"Furthermore, we strongly refuse to sign to such an all entangling foreign policy, since by doing so, we sign away part of our sovereignty and that is simply unacceptable for the will of the people. Consequently, in keeping with the Emperor's promises, the Supreme League will from this moment on, designate all systems and planets within the fallen Machine Empire as part of our integral state. Henceforth, any ships caught trespassing on our spaces will be subject to immediate ejection by any means necessary, lethal forces included."

"Additionally, we can already see the strains that adventurous foreign pacts have caused in escalating conflicts, as indicated by several other broadcasts that were made. In closing, any attempt to impose galactic wide policies against us, as well as trespassing on our declared spaces, will be met by unrestricted overwhelming fire. For the League!"

Chato Lead The Galaxy In Anti-swaq-oberlus struggle

While Swaq invasion into the Voker57 stars continues, Chato are not surrendering and are taking the fight to the enemy. Our struggling brothers under Cray yoke will be liberated.
Meanwhile, Swaq's lackey empire Oberlus have started an opportunistic war against the besieged Chato, instead of using their power to enforce the ultimatum they signed no more than three cycles ago. This should give the whole galaxy an idea of what are Oberlus' words and commitments worth.

Under this conditions, Chato leader Voker57 with bitterness declares the objective dissolution of the Ultimatum. Hyperant is welcome to all the riches of south, and may it help him to prepare for coming northern horde of crazed robots.

All remaining empires are welcome to join the struggle against the Swaq and his opportunistic pet Oberlus, while it is still not too late for the galaxy. Chato will endure.

Well, wait for next weekly test version for the parallel MP game on your server? I'm looking forward to it!
Yes I'm definitely still going to get that going - I'm currently testing the 6:1 ratio of hull to part costs that swaq suggested, in SP. Hope you're all well.

I found out that change makes colonization faster (if you down the part cost with respect to buildings, research, etc.) and that ships like scouts become extremely expensive in comparison with a colony/outpost ship for what we are used to. I think 2:1 is enough to cripple chaff strategies (still possible, but twice as expensive).

Ah, thank you for mentioning this - it was never my intention to make outpost base and colony base parts cheaper. So I think I will have to edit their costs manually by 2.5x so that they are not reduced when part cost scaling is set to 0.4 (I'm actually trying 5x by setting hull cost scaling to 2x and part cost scaling to 0.4x)

Presumably there is a text file somewhere with the PP cost of those parts - can someone tell me which one?

Thx

Consolidation

Interstellar News Corporation

Rejoice!

After a strongly worded broadcast made by our Chief Generalissimo among other factors, the other foreign realms have formally disbanded their pact recognizing the regions around the fallen empire as a demilitarized zone. Additionally, Operation Enduring Strength has now reported to be several weeks ahead of schedule, with the first phase of the operation expected to be concluded by the end of the month. And to add to all of this, GDP figures have begun to rebound, officially ending the Great Downturn.

However, an interesting turn of events have developed in the northwestern sector. Crystalline forces have launched an assault taskforce aimed at Asteria, former colony of the Crystalline Empire. From the look of things, they don't seem too happy about us forcibly seizing their assets and are now looking to take it back. However, we will not let them have at it without a fight!

Bring it on crystalhead!

Partial data on the conflict in the Swaq - Chato Scum conflict have arrived. A battle ensued over the formerly Scum system of Thuban. The gormoshit emperor Voker57 was the one at charge of the scum fleet. Judging by the survivors that remain shooting at each other after a whole cycle of intense combat, it seems this general urgently needs some robotic brain to forecast the results of a battle, to stop wasting his forces, impaired in terms of both technology and commandment.

Meanwhile, the forces of our government have liberated a Chato world. Our first interactions with the local populace makes us think this beings are actually not that bad. Currently they are very unhappy, seemingly because of the great disappointment that their former government has caused on them, but they do not behave like the scum we were expecting them to be. Maybe the scumness of this species only concerns their emperor, Voker57. We expect that the far ruling of the Potchine government will let them forget the retarded society they had before, make them happier and let them contribute to a true empire.

We are waiting for the promised intromission of the Heretic Etty Empire, humorously nicknamed Jetty by one of our news intern. Our forces are ready for a nice pollen exchange.

Galaxy On Fire, Some Burn, Some Eat Roast

While swaq-oberlus axis continue their treacherous assault on peaceful Voker57 empire, other empires are taking advantage of chaos.

In the south, Hyperant keeps taking both neutral and danyspin97's worlds, while competing with O01eg for the latter. The only power well positioned to check Hyperant would be Oberlus, who, to be fair, objectively cannot spare any power, having provoked all his neighbors and now having to dedicate all power to protect the friendly-no-more borders. Hyperant is well set on the way to become a dominant power in the region.

No less ominous echos are arriving from the east. Secretive L29Ah empire is apparently taking the whole east hemigalaxy to themselves, as no other lifesigns have been detected there. In absense of central power, brought by swaq-oberlus invasion, and apparently unchecked by swaq in the north, there is a great potential for a second dominant power in the east.

The Chato remind the remaining sane empires that galaxy balance is a fragile thing, and once you throw it off, it is hard to get it back.

Avengence

Interstellar News Corporation

Following the 12 Day siege of Galos Gamma, the last remaining and most fortified rebel stronghold, as well as former capital of the Machine Empire, the planet had finally fell to League ground forces. The Operation, of which the former emperor personally took part in, had resulting in the capture of the Head Rebellion Leader who was residing within the Imperial palace. After the invasion, as a rally was held declaring the restoration of stability in the region, the rebel leader, who had falsely declared himself an "emperor" was put forth kneeling on the platform. With a swift stroke with his war saber, the rebel leader was quickly made an example of what would happen should another rebellion arise. The rebel's head, which would then be placed on a pike just outside the palace, solidified that point. Consequently, 12 hours later, the last remaining holdout, Trondhiem, would formally surrender their forces to the League. With that, the first phase of Operation Enduring Strength, had concluded. Order and stability was restored, but the work is not over yet. Phase two, which comprises mainly the reconstruction well as administrative integration and resource extraction, would begin.

As promised, Emperor Magnate has been restored to his throne and will be allowed to govern over his pre-revolution lands and resources, albeit under the close directions of the High Command as a Mandate under the Supreme League. Although his position is now subservient to the High Command, he remains content and loyal to us and would dare not stage a war of independence.

While operations in the south have begun to wind down, the Crysto-League war still rages in the northwestern sector. During the Second Battle of Asteria, the Crystalline fleet had managed to best our now obsolete fleet of pre-coup vessels, and has maintained a light blockcade of the system. However, it is unlikely that this would result in the turning point of the war, as new radar sweeps have shown that the Crystalline Empire had been fighting another border war with the now designated Vinite Cluster, a realm originating further north, and with whom we had signed a NAP over a year ago. Isolated diplomatically as well as fighting a two front conflict, it would appear that the Crystalline Empire days are numbered.
