linux Install

#1 Post by dstjames »

I downloaded the linux installation of Free Orion but I cant find any documentation on how to install it.

I thought it would be an RPM or something but it looks like its source. I'm not a programmer so normally I just follow the instructions to compile it but I cant find any instructions.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm using suse 10.0 if that matters.

You might have a look at:

I'm not sure what the status of the linux download(s) are. Yoghurt was having some trouble getting autopackage working, so v0.3 may have been released with only a Windows installer... Perhaps he'll comment here...?

Unfortunately there are no Linux installers at the moment. It's something that Yoghurt plans to continue to work on in the new year.

For now, source is all we offer for Linux, and building it can sometimes be tricky. Rest assured that releases of FreeOrion in the future will be easier to use with Linux.
