CIA Galaxy report
It'd be cool to have something like CIA world repord (download it from CIA site) but for entire galaxy. It should be generated dynamically according to known info. There must be an ability to save it to file.

Or else what? It wouldn't be cool?muxec wrote:There must be an ability to save it to file.
Post a link to this CIA report you speak of, I doubt most of us have seen it.
Time flies like the wind, fruit flies like bananas.
He's talking about this:

It's one of the nicer things our spy agency does.

Surprise and Terror! I am greeted by the smooth and hostile face of our old enemy, the Hootmans! No... the Huge-glands, no, I remember, the Hunams!
Huh, yeah, right. Except for the fact that they make it out of babies.Aquitaine wrote:It's one of the nicer things our spy agency does.

Yes that site is EXTREMELY informative. The idea might be cool too. If for the most part useless. But I think it would decrease the strategy of the game if all other empires information was known. Now could we modify the "factbook" to mirror your current infiltration of each empire? Perhaps...
Aquitaine is my Hero....
Such factbook could be used for spy reports. If a successful spy mission could retrieve excerpts from the enemy's factbook. Of course, it would only be useful if the factbook is private and always true (but a less successfull operations might provide approximative or false excerpts).
The facts (population, economy, stats) could be generated automatically, the more verbose information would be entered by the player, if they are so inclined.

For starters, the 'public score' thingy could be turned on and off for a given game when creating it (like in Stars! or SE4), so if you don't like it, you don't use it.
If it is turned off, specific spy missions or relations (alliance) could provide you with additional info - that sounds like a good idea for me.
An ability to save it into a txt or other file would be useful as far as trading information and using it in tools not yet included in the main game (I am again thinking of Stars! ability to generate planets and fleet reports in txt files and of many programs people have written over the years to make use of them).
