plus and minus and … what else
some species description texts were wrapping in the game start screen when i was trying to select who to play for the next few days .. so i was gonna fix it. and then i, saw there was a positive effect + and very positive ++ and ultra positive +++ and not so good – and worse –– and worst –––. but no indicator sign for neutral effects? seems wrong.
then i tried several nice looking unicode characters like ⸰, ▫︎, ∘, ⚬, ✧, ▻, ♢, ⋄, ⁘, ⁖, ⸬, ⋯, ⧊, ෴, ꩜, ... but none really worked, seems there is limited unicode support by the game's font engine, it won't even display japanese katakana.. so we are left with these alternatives:
a)
b) o
c) x
d) ••
e) something other i have not thought of
f) all of the above .. no that makes no sense.
a) means nothing, so as it was up to now. d) looks bad here but better in-game.
here some screenshots so you know what i'm ranting about. i'll go ahead and put the doubledot in for now. maybe the o's win it in the end, who knows, or back to empty. "X vs. O – Tic Tac Toooe" – how say you all?

not correct, the font itself is the limiting factor .. jeeez i need to read up on years of discussions hereseems there is limited unicode support by the game's font engine, it won't even display japanese katakana

The two dots are too similar to a minus.
The O seems OK but I don't like it's quite big compared to the plus and minus.
Could it be a single dot?

tried that, does not align due to variable character widths, and it's all really depending on the correct font to lign up properly ... were it htlm, one could put marked-up text fragments like <tr><td> stuff and put center attributes .. dunno. and this is probably much more attention than this baby topic merrits

I meant that vertically-centered dot symbol. Interpunct or midpoint or something like that in English.

There are numerous missing glyphs in the default Roboto font, so ideally check if it shows up when pasted into the in-game chat or player name or pedia search fields before suggesting a character.

Gah...
I can write in Pedia what I think is called interpunct in English, middle dot in the Unicode charset, U+00B7. But it's not horizontally centered. This other symbol, "‧", U+2027, if written with a space before it in the stringtables, shows up centered:

oh wait, i believe it is! at least, well those <u>'ses and <img>'es look a lot like html -- let me just try if that would work.. has to work in game start screen as well is the thing, not just pedia

single ‧ is almost invisible – how about we split the diff? two of those. separated by a space. looks like see attached. i'd likes it even better than the other doubledout before. ok i'd like the o's the most, but tell me how this looks?
