That will make this game much more random.
If you feel Df and Df are too powerful, maybe make it require a lot of troops to occupy.

Technical standpoint: Invading something but planets would need some backend rewrites for little gain.
Implementation with current game is possible if one adds a connected planet, so whoever controls the planet controls the forest/drone factory.
This also way ugly.
Of course there could be other ways to add a monster to your empire besides invasion.
Gameplay wise we were thinking of adding dyson forests as a system defense measure for bio-tech oriented empires. Even then I am not sure that one wants to be a dyson forest gardener (expanding your forests by using floaters). Also having a monster in almost every system clutters up the galaxy map.
Drone factory is basically a destroyable device which produces a drone every few turns. Mostly the same as a monster nest. Does not add much to the game which isnt there in my opinion.
