We Need A Progressometer!

#1 Post by leiavoia »

Since i'm not actively involved in the game making (i have my own projects, sorry), i would like to know what's going on under the hood as far as development is concerned. This is mostly just out of curiosity. Anyway, i thought it might be nice to establish some kind of "progressometer" where devs and artists can modify a wiki page with a changelog and also update a progress bar. You could have a set of bars for the current dev version (0.3), and another for the project as a whole. It would be a nice visual way of seeing how far we are and also know about what is going on for those not actively involved.

like

Code: Select all

VERSION 0.3 ---------

36% GRAPHICS
   [X] Item 1
   [ ] Item 2
   [X] Item 3
   [ ] Item 4
   [ ] Item 5

53% CODE
   [X] Item 1
   [X] Item 2
   [X] Item 3
   [ ] Item 4
   [ ] Item 5

89% DOCUMENTATION
   [X] Item 1
   [X] Item 2
   [X] Item 3
   [ ] Item 4
   [X] Item 5

Takes away time from development IMHO (?)
I'm not a programmer... but I play one at Microsoft!

Currently we are waiting for:
* Game Design to provide the tech tree for 0.3
* Graphics team to provide UI designs for the coders to implement

No, it means that we are barely starting with the tech tree part of v0.30. Keep patient. ;)

No, we have a long way to go :) The coders are working on other less essential tasks while they wait for the other teams to provide them with the portions for the next steps.

0.3 is not even nearly ready yet. Unfortunately predicting a time for completion is impossible at this stage.

Thanks for the update guys, at the speed the project is going I might end up being able to help you afterall. I have plenty of work now and for the next few months but after that at the moment it does not look too busy.
Only time will tell.

In the mean time know that me and I am sure plenty of others who visit this message board are behind you all the way!
