Infrastructure (web space, email, irc, git, etc.)

I noticed that in another thread (This one) that payment for the web server may become an issue.

That got me worried about this project. What if payments for the hosting stop all of a sudden and the website and forum are taken down? Are frequent backups made? Is there a plan B for the website? After all, the website is the project's face to the world and the forum is the main support infrastructure (IRC sends you here if you have questions).

Also, there's no contact email address on the website. Is that deliberate? Could one be registered with the hosting provider of the website? Isn't it better to collect donations via (for example) paypal and pay for hosting that way?

Backups are made. If the hosting goes down, we'll migrate to another host. There might be some downtime, but git it hosted separately so dev work can continue while that gets resolved.

Donations can be made using the link on the wiki: https://sourceforge.net/p/freeorion/donate/

And a formal contact email?

There are a myriad of reasons why someone would like to send an email to a specific person. Some of these are:
- legal;
- journalists looking for someone from the team to talk with.

IIRC there is a FO gmail address. That said, displaying an email address on a public website equals to tons of spam, unfortunately. And registering on the forum to send us a PM isn't that much of an hassle if you want to contact the dev team...
