I like the artwork fine -- what's your beef with it?
I always find that I set my home planet to research focus (though I do play a lot of either 100% or 150% research species)
I always start off like that too, but it doesn't always stay that way, just depends. It doesn't really seem a problem to me -- what were you thinking should be done?
I find that I usually can out tech some of my ships really fast in early game
and therefore...
I find that I usually race towards Deflector Shield, Plasma Cannon and Zortrium Armor.
I find that the local Molecular Cloud situation makes a big difference in my research and outfitting priorities, even after getting Deflector Shield I'll often build a lot of ships without it if I need to be busy inside Molecular Clouds.
Scanner seems more valuable than lighthouse
I agree, but I do find both valuable. Are you thinking there should be a different research and/or production cost balance between them?
Reinforced hull is not where one would expect it. (especially if you're only looking at unlocked research)
Seems fine to me to depend on Arch. MonoFil. I would be inclined to have the default be to also show locked techs, if that's what you're getting at.
Space Volcanoe has zero damage?
Ya, apparently it's just an excuse to stealth a planet (so that the planets stealthed because of tech aren't total giveaways).
Census: Characteristics should be sorted.
They are sorted. It's controlled by the value of the stringtable entry "CENSUS_TAG_ORDER", which is currently first by metabolisms in alphabetical order, then Telepathic. I leave stylish out since it currently has no significance.
Perhaps show two levels of "Locked" research as opposed to all. That way you can see ahead a little, but not get overwhelmed?
I don't think that's worth an extra button (or are you thinking of just not at all letting us see things that aren't close to being unlocked?) I just restrict the tech categories down to 1 or 2 if I want to limit the display.
If viewing a Research tech in the pedia (while in Research view mode), make that node visible on the research tree (and all dependencies).
Ya, it was pretty much that way before the Research UI got streamlined; I too would like a way to have the pedia cause the tree to get centered on my current tech topic.
Make industrial centers limited to X starlane jumps area of effect? (upgradable with current research upgrades)
That seems fairly contrary to the antiproliferation doctrine we all swore allegiance to at FO Academy. Supply connectedness not enough of a constraint for you?
Robotic cannot pilot organic ships?
Why should that be? Don't you know they control us already?
Solar Hull ships give +1 pop to Phototripic species (location specific)?
sounds fun; in order to avoid exploitation would probably need to add some increasing risk of cataclysm as more are in a system.
