Try to use https://www.transifex.com for translations?

#1 Post by Cjkjvfnby »

Hi, we can try to use https://www.transifex.com for translations.

It is free to open source projects.

I did not use it yet, but I can make integration scripts.
If I provided any code, scripts or other content here, it's released under GPL 2.0 and CC-BY-SA 3.0

Just for fun I make some integration.

If some one have a little time to translate some strings till 15 december of 2014 it will be great (I use trial version for 30 days).
I need to add your language and you as translator

How it works in general:
I take string file and send it to transfix. (manual, can be automated) In tansfix all entries marked as untranslated.
Translator translates each entry (copy form source or write own) see image in attach
After that I create patch for project. (by scripts, can be automated)

+ No need to make patch and forum topics, just translate. If you speed is couple of worlds in two week it is best approch.

- You cannot get result immediately (until I did not make scripts)

All changes during trial period will be converted to patches.
After end of trial period we can create opens source(free) account for free orion.

PS. How to hide attached image?

Summary:

Benefits for this site is only shown then 3 things come together:
you translate couple of word a day (it is a lot of extra work to make and share patches.)
you cant commit to the trunk (you must wait until someone apply it, sometimes for ages, commiter can just commit it)
you are not single translator (you can wait until you have a lot of changes, and all collaboration features is not used)

At current time if I found other person who want to translate to my language in same time I will suggest to use github for collobaration because it allow to see other changes just after they was done.
