japanese translate

#1 Post by nanimosinaihito »

The progress rate is about 70%.
But there is a problem.
Line breaks are not allowed, as in Chinese. I think its because Japanese and Chinese have no space.
And the title is not displayed
Other Japanese and Chinese do not have italics, so a blank is displayed.

What does that mean? That the game doesn't render linebreaks that you add, or that it does but shouldn't, or something else?

Not sure what this refers to. Italic font rendering in GiGi (thus FreeOrion) doesn't depend on the font having special italic versions of characters... Rather, it shifts the vertices used to render the font texture if text is marked italic.

freeorion does not do automatic lettering. For example, "situlation report".
What title?
What appears when I mouse over the research screen and what appears when I mouse over the icons at the top of the screen.
The expression title may have been strange.

Only the name of the capital star was not displayed.
When I thought about it, the capital star was italic and bold.
The indigenous planet was italic, so if italic alone, freeorion will display it.

I don't know what you're trying to describe... What is "automatic lettering"?

Perhaps you mean mouseover tooltips or popups?

Does other bold or bold+italic text display, or just not capital planet names?

That's right. It is the big sentence on top of it.

When I change the size of a situation report or encyclopedia, freeorion automatically breaks the text inside
Does other bold or bold+italic text display, or just not capital planet names?
There may be others, but I do not know any other bold + italic sentences.

You can add bold and italic text to a ship design description by wrapping with or . It will then be visible in the design's pedia description.

OK, there's actually a separate option for the bold font texture, which for some reason isn't shown in the UI options. My guess is that your bold text doesn't show up because when you picked your preferred japanese font, it wasn't also set for bold text, and the default Roboto font is lacking the relevant characters...

I added an option widget for the bold font in master.

Your achievement did the job right. thank you :D
So I searched for a bold font.
Japanese has many characters, and bold fonts have not been found so far.
So I think I should use another font.

https://www.flopdesign.com/freefont/flopdesignfont.html
https://www.asterism-m.com/font/hanazomefont/
I think the previous two suit the universe in this game, but it's hard to tell the difference.

First issue to consider is the license for the fonts... They need to be similarly permissive for redistribution as https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... NSE.DejaVu or https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... NSE.Roboto to be included in the FreeOrion distribution.

It's difficult for me to see a difference in the visual font style in japanese / chinese characters... The characters used overwhelms any small difference in the character shapes.

AFAIK japanese or chinese don't use whitespace to separate words. Japanese switches between the different typing systems for the words.

However the current implementation of the word detection, which is used for text wrapping assumes regular whitespace. This breaks the formatting and things like text search.

Is the m + license free?
Is SIL Open Font License 1.1 free?
Is Apache License 2.0 free ?

The answers to those questions depend on the definition of "free". What do you actually want to know or do?

m+: I don't know what that is and a quick google didn't immediately show relevant hits.

SIL Open Font: B ased on reading the wikipedia article, yes.

Apache: yes. It's the license of a font already included: https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... NSE.Roboto
