Speed of new website

#1 Post by Tyreth »

Hi,

I'm curious to hear how you all are finding the new host. Faster or slower than the old? Or too hard to tell?

If there is any speed difference its negligble as far as I can tell.

Same here. However, I have the impression that the new host is faster than the old one.

I get around 70 KiB/s (of 91,7) for a long thread, not bad, I think.

Havent noticed any slowness yet, I have a good connection though so thats to be expected, also its been so long its hard to remember how fast the old page came up. Will try to report any oddness I see.

Seems to be faster for me, which is why I asked.

It's been a bit too long a gap between old and new to distinctly note the difference for me. I also use too many different net connections to be sure any possible perceived difference isn't unrelated to the server change.

No complaints about speed so far though, which is what really matters, I guess.

I was just getting some odd forum errors and nonresponsiveness. Seems to have cleared itself up though... some error messages:

Code: Select all

Warning: mysql_connect(): Lost connection to MySQL server during query in /usr/www/users/tzlaine/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 48

Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /usr/www/users/tzlaine/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 330

Warning: mysql_errno(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /usr/www/users/tzlaine/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 331
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Code: Select all

phpBB : Critical Error

Error doing DB query userdata row fetch

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1053 Server shutdown in progress

SELECT u.*, s.* FROM phpbb_sessions s, phpbb_users u WHERE s.session_id = '0d0964947fd5a7e0ac27f30fe102e30f' AND u.user_id = s.session_user_id

Line : 235
File : /usr/www/users/tzlaine/forum/includes/sessions.php
Those were displayed to me after submitting a post edit and after loading freeorion.org, and came before and after a few minutes of nonresponsiveness. Other websites worked fine at the time.

My connection is very fast. Possibly a bit faster than before.

Seems a little faster to me, too; I'm still on dial-up.

For me, the actual loading time is less, but my browser is having an easier/faster time finding the pages.
