no, you can always build more buildings/orbitals (currently);

In this thread MatGB said about the Quick Play Guide:
MatGB wrote:On the other hand I can edit it, so if anyone else writes up a paragraph and says "replace paragraph #X with this" I can copy it in fairly quickly.
Right, here are a couple of suggestions. Bear in mind they are based on what little I have played yet and what I learned from the forums and forgive me if I got it completely wrong.

Suggestion #1. In the "Planets" section add a paragraph as follows:

Replace
The image on the left shows the "wheel of habitability". The planet on the top is perfect for the species. The two planets below are good, the two in the middle - adequate, the next pair is poor, and the planets at the bottom are hostile. You can find the habitability for species other than Humans by rotating the wheel accordingly, so that the best-suited planet is on the top.

The planet's type can be changed by Terraforming - it shifts the planet's type to become one step closer to its' preferences. For example, if you terraform a planet that was hostile, it will become one of the poor types. Note that terraforming disappears after you build it, so you can build it multiple times. Also, it is important to note that Terraforming takes effect on the turn AFTER the one it is built in!

When starting out, many species can only survive on their preferred type of planet. Like many other matters which are difficult in the beginning, this can be amended by researching appropriate technologies, in this case technologies which either allows the species to adapt to the environment or alters the planet environment itself.

- the change is only the insertion of an additional paragraph.

Suggestion #2. In the "Useful Tips" section, add this tip:
Peace with an opponent can mean there is one less front to handle. Though a peace offer is rarely accepted, so don't count on peace until you have it.
Edited to add: The suggested additions to the wiki mentioned in this post are released under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2 and/or the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence as appliccable, i.e. the licenses which are in use for the wiki.

I concur, for beginners, it's probably more important to teach them about researching planetary ecology and then subterranean habitation, as those are the first steps to bigger populations and larger colonization planet choices, than to tell them about terraforming, which is a late game tech. When they'll get to it, they'll probably know what it's useful for.

Agree with both suggestions and have put them in but then noticed they weren't released, Bulgroz can you edit your post (or indeed signature as I have done) to assert you release your contribution under the Creative Commons licence Free Orion uses? Else I'll have to revert the edit and both are good.

If anyone else has suggestions or texts needed to be added/removed do please say so, I can do this quickly when I've a few minutes spare.

What I can't do is create new pages, or update the screenshots,b oth need to be done by Geoff, one of the things that got me stalled was knowing I wanted to take some data out and put it onto its own page, but not knowing exactly what. Plus, the screenshots are horribly out of date, food went ages ago (and I stopped missing it after about two games, completely, so much better without it).

Um, the contents of the Wiki are release under the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2, see the license page. So we need a license statement which covers that.
What I can't do is create new pages
You might need admin privileges for that, but probably you're just doing it wrong, I needed some pointers from Geoff to get me startet. To create a new page, just type in the URL you want for the new page ("http://freeorion.org/index.php/my_new_page"), and IIRC you get a page offering buttons/links/whatever to create the new page. You need to be logged in of course. If you don't get any means to create the new page, ask Geoff to give you the required privileges.

There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, or search the related logs, but you do not have permission to create this page.
Is what I remember getting last time (that's for the notional "http://freeorion.org/index.php/Research"), I'll message Geoff in a bit.

Yes, I get that same thing too, even after making sure I was logged in to the wiki. Message Geoff for me, too :D

Sounds familiar, back when I needed to create one Geoff created it then I could edit it.

I have both edited my previous post in this thread and made a signature with (I hope) proper release statements. If you need the wording changed, let me know.

Looks good, however, in my apparently slightly dazed state of mind I've missed this statement on the license page (sorry ):
The contents of the FreeOrion wiki that are not on a user or user talk page are also released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence. User pages have names beginning with "User" and user talk pages have names beginning with "User Talk".
So, to be sure to cover everything, you need to add that to your license statement regarding wiki contributions.

Very well, I have amended my post once again following your instructions and also my signature though I had to be a little creative with the signature to keep it within the 255 character limits.

Thanks, that should be sufficient.

There a no info on species.

I've taken over a plannet with some worm population. How can i change population?

Currently, you can remove an existing species from your own planets by building either an Evacuation or Concentration Camp.
Both of these will take a number of turns until the planet is empty, then you can build a new colony for a different species.

What is the name of the species? I'm not aware of any that don't have Pedia entries.
