Blackholes and Wormholes?

#1 Post by Dart00_Tech »

Im aware that last year some topics were opened up and chatted about implementation of blackholes and wormholes....

Did any of these ideas manifest? Iv found a whole lot of "deep space" but not any blackholes or wormholes...im plenty aware the game is not complete, but was just wondering if maybe by turn 1000 after i get carpal tunnel if id see any or any in the near future of some build?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also as a whole other note, is there any news on stealthed planet development is coming...i think it would be interesting to explore many systems and colonize any thing you can, and then get attacked from a enemy inhabited stealthed planet that was right under your nose, or ambush it when you improve your detection technology hehe.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Just a side note, this game has been making me have a greater interest in a possibility to leave earth and colonize if Iran tries to blow everyone in to little pieces or some other huge disaster, also iv taken a interest in FTL drives and other propulsion technology and may write a school report on it)

There can be "black holes" generated during universe creation. They're more likely in older universes. They may not actually show up in some tests due to some weirdness about how galaxy generation works, but you ca make them more likely be editing universe_tables.txt (in the default directory) in the UniverseAgeModToStarTypeDist section. Make the Blackhole column numbers bigger.

That said, they're just another star type; nothing special with respect to wormholes happens with them.

Planets can be made stealthy with appropriate effects; stealth is just a standard planet meter. I don't know if there is a building that can do this, though one can easily be added.

Ok thanks. That sounds good. :)

I was also thinking, maybe each universe (old and new) could have a blackhole at the center or so (people say that in the center of every galaxy is a massive blackhole). This could lead to creative alternative victory condition's, especially for multiplayer, like: "First one to reach the black hole wins" or "First one to create a trade route to the blackhole wins"...etc...

There doesn't seem to be much challenge in that victory condition-- and some empires due to position, and the nature of the nearby starlanes would have a huge advantage.

Presumably a map would need to be carefully designed or specially generated to make such a victory condition worthwhile.
