Targeting

#1 Post by Daybreak »

I was reading posts about the Fifth game of the multiplayer slow game server where there was discussion about comsats/cheap hulls used as fodder, etc, in battles, and trying to come up with a solution to make it more expensive, which of course has other ramifications.

I don't know if it ha been suggested but why allow them to be targeted at all, removing any advantage of building them - target them later when all other armed ships or defences are gone.

Each fleet has the ability to choose whether its Aggresive, Passive, or Automatic - could Automatic be changed to not target unarmed ships, or maybe another order like "Armed only". Then Agressive means you target all ships, like sniping troop ships when landing.
You could also have another choice "Unarmed First" meaning your ships would target unarmed first.

Of course this may be way more work.

base hulls (those used for comsats) were made more expensive and that solved the spamming-of-comsat issue.

so basically other ships are better value. the one advantage base hulls still have is that you do not need shipyards for those.

and also with the latest changes there is a cheap weapon which may lead to seeing militarised decoys in the wild.
