Sixteen game on the multiplayer slow game server

15th game is reaching its final so I open thread to prepare. After current game finished and server maintenance I'm going to switch to the nearest next weekly test build and use it until the game finished. If it will be found the game is bugged or very disbalanced, then the game will be stopped and reset as stable 0.4.10.1 game or waiting for fix in next weekly test build.

Before start there will be two days with two test game with 5 minutes turn.

Test games will be started 11th of May and the actual game will be started 13th of May. The game version is 2021-05-10.4f04bdc.

Timeout will be raised to 27h as proposed before. Also rule about missing player will be introduced: if player didn't logged more than 54h (2 turns) will start to search delegate for the empire and after 108h (4 turn) I'll give empire to AI if no AI in the game yet.

Also it would be nice if someone could fix UI issues with timeout display https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/issues/3370 and checksum mismatch.

Changes from previous game:
  • Galaxy shape: Box.
  • Experimentors: Disabled.
  • Natives: Low.
  • Monsters: Low.
  • Specials: Low.
  • Diplomacy
  • No team win
  • Systems per player: 40
  • Research cost: 100%
  • Production cost: 50%
  • Tech victory (Singularity of Transcendence) cost: 10%

If everybody else agrees, I'd like a max 2-player team win (or 3-player, if more than 6 players sign in).

If players that don't like open-team diplomacy games want to join (LienRag? ThinkSome), I would vote for a fixed-team game.

Will skip this one because of time constraints. But since last week or so the game got quite more interesting - rebellions happening quite easily if you do not take care of your influence budget. I made a sly game and it went quite ok - but I needed to spend a lot on research to be ready for growth.

Note as AI cant handle rebellion it is prone to self-destructs. So maybe(?) to concede by making all colonies independent is healthier than giving AI the job.
Any code or patches in anything posted here is released under the CC and GPL licences in use for the FO project.

I probably can play but will probably also invest myself less in the game.
I'm OK with either fixed-team or no team win.
Fixed team would make the game different than the last one, so why not ?

BTW I am certainly coming to an end, but why do you consider that the game itself is coming to an end ?
Isn't the fight of titans between Oberlus and Wobbly/Ophiuchus (with 0o1g in the middle) just a few turns away ? Why do you expect it to be quick ?

I suppose turns will be much quicker.

I'm in, but i don't agree on team victory. Also i'm surprised of the science vs production cost shift.

Vanilla cost factors are 2.0 and 1.0. This halves both so no change on science vs production ratio.

Nice to have you on the game.
Try the new influence mechanic, still under construction.

Oh nice, Danny is back and L29Ah who I haven't played yet. Count me in. Guess I better start learning to play 0.4.10.1, I haven't been following the latest builds.

Poked it a little, looks interesting, thanks; reminds me of the recent Civilization games.

Natives are very important to test stability system.

Also as discussed in the previous game cost of Singularity of Transcendence will be reduced with new game rule (not yet ready) to make tech victory available in multiplayer games.

Costs aren't shifted, they are halved to speed up game.
Maybe influence should be shifted as well. In my recent game not science and not production was slowing down thing but wait on influence to grow.

I would love to play again and would prefer a fixed team player game but at the moment it's unclear what's goning on with homeschooling and such time consuming things :roll:

So I will wait for the 15th game to come to an end and hope that I can tell if I can or if I can't play.

Then influence cost factor rule should be introduced as well.
