The server was updated to the latest weekly test build 2019-10-08.cbfdc5f. Please update your clients as well.

Just for the record, i'm in favor of not having specials/monsters in multi-player games.

There are over 1600 hit points of guardian ships between my position and my closest ally, one ship of which has death rays. Makes it really tough for us to work together in the early phases, never mind about not being able to expand.

IMHO, specials and etc. are to make the solo game more interesting. The random effects at best distracting and at worst unbalancing in multi-player games, where i believe the focus should be on the players abilities.

There are galaxy setup options those could be altered.

For next game, I'll be fine with "Monsters: none", "Monsters: low", or whatever you like. Same for any other parameter.
Anyone willing to make it a "Natives: none, Monsters: none" game?

That would be my preferred setting. That way when i am ground into paste, i know it's because my opponents are skilled, not because rolls of dice gave them advantages.

Maybe.
One can start with a multi-planet system with GG and asteroids, or have several good/adeq. planets nearby, or have better choke points to protect the empire, etc.

Edit: also, specials: none?

I cold live with every player same species. Would be a very different game with everybody all playing Sly.
