I installed this and tried running

/usr/lib/freeorion/freeoriond --hostless
but it didn't work. I eventually figured out that the shell script /usr/games/freeorion was needed so I duplicated the one for freeorion and renamed it freeoriond and changed the last line to call freeoriond instead of freeorion and it worked but gave this error:
Code: Select all
Option "resource-dir", was specified on the command line but was not recognized. It may not be registered yet or could be a typo.
So I deleted the variable that caused that error and now it works great!
I'm not sure if any of this needs to be fixed or this is just what needs to happen if someone wants to run it hostless. I'm probably the only one who has tried to do hostless lately and I know how to fix it so..

This is a Debian way to package freeorion. You need pass --resource-dir /usr/share/games/freeorion/default to freeorion and freeoriond executables.

freeoriond seems to work with out --resource-dir.
