Request: Final art for 0.2

#1 Post by Tyreth »

Hi,

We're approaching the release of version 0.2 very soon. As a result, we need to finalise the artwork to make it into this version. This thread is not about asking you to create new artwork assets, because there is not much time. It is a request to locate art that has already been created and show it here, so that we can easily view it and decide which we need for this release.

1. Splash screens - We are likely going to use pd's splash screen for 0.2 (http://www.optisch-edel.de/02b.jpg), but a list of the other splash screens would be good because there may be places they can be used elsewhere in the game. A current list we have of already created splash screens:
* http://www.optisch-edel.de/02b.jpg
* http://lacota.net/loading.jpg
* http://lacota.net/loading2.jpg
* http://members.ozemail.com.au/~jonathan ... an-4-5.jpg
* http://lacota.net/splash01.png

If you know of others, please include links to them here and I'll update this post.

2. Stars - We currently don't have as many as we need. So, are there:
a. Stars created (or can be created quickly) for the missing types
b. Stars created (or can be created quickly) for the existing types that look better than them?

More details on the third page of the above thread:

orange star.....(we have 0 images already)
red star...........(we have 2 images already)
neutron star....(we have 0 images already)

3. Nebulae - there were some alternatives around earlier. Where are they? Any that we should include in 0.2 to make the game look nicer?

Thanks for your help

i made some polishing, shortly after v0.1 came out, where i lowered the opacity of the background stars, added some color to the nebulas and replaced two of them completely. i wanted to rework the nebulas completely but it seems that i can't finish it till the release. so if nobody else is doing this, we could go with those.

Can anyone please provide us with the missing star types? We need to finalise all the details as soon as possible.

Thanks.

What with the ArtCluster site going down I only uploaded part of the next planetary sequence -type Obi 3

I definatly have 3 images here that were never uploaded.
There are 10 types on the wheel if I remember correctly. Could let me know which ones you have.

I havent yet been able to successfully upload to the currant PhpCollab.

There are 9 types, and we have 9 currently, one for each type. Probably your first sequence.

What we really need more are the missing stars for the galaxy map. New nebulae would also be very nice but not so necessary. Splash screens that aren't being used for anything else are helpful too.

The planetary backgrounds are easy to implement, and since this is a very early release in FO's roadmap I wouldn't mind saving your other sequence images for a later release and save on bandwidth (making this release a demonstration more than a complete package of all the artwork).

As for the phpcollab site, you'll need to speak with Miu since I don't have access anymore. Or I'll need to grab the password and you tell me what your describe what exactly is going wrong.

I havent followed the thread on stars, is there some spacific place where the needs are defined.

Yes, in the first post in this thread ;)

You will see a list of the number of stars we have and what we don't have. These are the star images for the galaxy map.

I tweaked the v0.1 stars (apparently still to be used in v0.2, according to the "stars 0.2" thread) with Photoshop. Some modified designs are here ( the newly coloured stars :D ). That said, I couldn't get a neutron star design done.

That link should work. Weird how it wasn't working before.

Thanks for notifying - but I'll replace them with edited ones shortly. Same happens with some of the other stars we have currently as well :/ No animated stars in 0.2, but we'll do them for 0.3.

What's wrong? I have to take some stars and it's up to you to replace them as you like. I saw his post first and after doing those small changes i saw the additional posts. We wait for stars a long time and i didn't expect an run right now.
