0.3 Tech Category icons
Ok, ive uploaded a new file, all icons (EPS and PNG) since the old ones were too big. Basicly i just learned that its good to first clean all unused styles etc. before saving.
EPS are now ~14KB in size, instead of 400KB. Whole pack is about 42KB.
All five icons pack
If you downloaded the previous ones, i suggest getting these. Same ones except without the extra non-used stuff in them...

It's "trade", not "money"... The former is how much economic activity is going on in your empire that you can harness / manipulate / control. The latter is the generally underused generic currency that empires have in many strategy games that there is generally little use for besides trading to AIs or paying maintainence... IMO the icon should evoke the former, not the latter, so as to leave more options for how to use the resource in ways that make sense.pd wrote:or do it even simpler by using one or two coins...
I know that you are opposed to the idea "generic currency" , however for the "generic player" there is a large degree of familiarity with the concept of money and trade being one and the same. I took part in a heated and long lasting debate on this issue with Krikitone, Han Krum and others last July or August during the public discussion of the 0.3 requirements and the final consensus was that money er... um trade...was introduced as one of the 5 resources.Geoff the Medio wrote:It's "trade", not "money"... While I understand your hesitation over anthropomorphizing the abstract concept of trade, the last time I checked only humans will be playing. There just doesn't seem to be an intuitive, easily recognizable icon to represent the idea of trade without connection to money or commerce. Why not go for something easily recognizeable to the player like pd's idea of 2 coins or maybe a scale (in the connotation of a scale of justice)?
Also, there is this from the wiki:
Trade determines the Money extracted from a world. In the future, government picks will probably have a significant influence on this meter. “Valuable commodity” planet specials might modify this meter.
maybe you could also link to a pic at 32x32? So we get an idea how it will look like when used with fo.
EDIT: Ok, now it's more clear than your first icon, but what's on center it's hard to tell. Maybe you could use different colors?
