I think you just proved my point for me. :P It had a retarded AI to build the wrong stuff for you. So you had the choice of extremely tedious micromanagement or having someone else play the game for you, extremely badly. Neither of those options are acceptable. Even if the AI was capable of doing an...

MoO2 would have been great if you could do the scripting idea. But there are situation where the scripting wouldn't be so good. Because the game design was fundamentally flawed in some areas, particularly w.r.t. planet management. They took out the streamlined planetary managament from Moo1 and rep...

:? Did you actually read the sentence you just responded to? As i just said - there are far better ways of doing things. There are more options available than burying decision making under stupid boring repetitive donkeywork (guilty as charged: Moo2) or having a retarded AI make the decisions for yo...

There are far better ways of dealing with this than getting someone/thing else to play the game for you.

Hi grinningman, sure i've seen you around somewhere before :P I suggest you stick with it a bit longer (if you haven't already). There is certainly more depth and varitey present than is apparent at first glance. The designers have followed a Moo1 philosophy for much of the game (randomised techs, n...

I like the light months suggestion. It seems logical to use "light-month" as the unit of distance, and "month" as the amount of time in one turn. Then, FTL ship speeds could be elegantly described in multiples of c. Except, IMHO, using months as a game turn seems even more out o...

First of all, Davey Baby. Your Website is Not Working. I try http://www.cowproject.org/ and it does not work. Now that you know, you will fix it? Heh, i... umm... accidentally let the domain expire. Ironically, once i actually put the webpage up, i pretty much stopped working on the thing. H...

Just got around to downloading the demo. First impressions: Its very much a streamlined, cut down version of this kind of game. What's odd is that it really feels like somebody tried to make a moo-a-like for consoles, but its only coming out on PC. Weird. I like the way tech works - kinda like moo1 ...

Yeah, i've suggested this several times. I was always disappointed that the antaran dimension in Moo2 was only one planet, especially since MoM had already given us an entire mirror world to play around in and explore. I suspect that Moo3 had originally intended to make the alternate dimension an ac...

Re: individual ships / groups of ships... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that i think moo3 got it right. /ducks and waits for rotten tomatoes to stop flying past. Okay, okay, i know Moo3 combat stank to high heaven, but i'm more inclined to believe that this was due to the myriad of bugs...

Interesting site

here

Its chock full of really nice stuff on realistic spaceship design from a sci-fi perspective. Lots of detailed examples and formulae, and while i know FO isnt going to get too bogged down in realism, it's still a really interesting read, and could provide quite a few nice ideas. Take a look.

I'm still amazed that you allow unregistered users to make changes. You dont allow it on the forums, so why allow it on the wiki where changes can be destructive? (yes, you can change stuff back, but only once you notice it). With the proportion of retards and sociopaths on the internet approaching ...
