The main lesson here, is I need to add support for and start using soundfonts... Somehow I don't think that by itself will result in this kind of sound quality though... Gui I might be willing to pay you for teaching me how to make stuff sound this good. ;) <ahem> That being said, my favorites here ...

New file for you guys to chew on. For some reason it's more fun to keep writing new stuff than trying to update old stuff with people's feedback in mind, but rest assured I'll be doing that too... eventually... damnit... Starlight Requiem v1 -- Okay so not me at my most creative title-wise, but it'l...

Hey Strat, nice to see you're still around. :) Yeah I had just gotten started working on the new section after the repeat of yours, but threw it up anyway since I was posting the other file. Notice the little intro I added to your section, and the slightly changed arpeggio string line therein? I tho...

Sorry about the long delay since I last posted anything new, but here we go... Portal Mastery v2 -- Changed the abrasive top synth line to choir, added a slow second section. This is my title screen/menu track, hopefully will be used in 0.3. Goes well with prenid's 0.2 title graphic, though it'd wor...

So then if your mothership is destroyed during battle then none of your fleet can move? Price you pay for having significantly better warships (lots more room for weapons etc on them due to lack of interstellar drive). Also a mothership that big, being of one of the largest hull sizes we would have...

Re: Concept behind planetary sound effect
The approach I took to the planetary sound effects (Industry_large.wav, farming_small.wav, research_medium.wav) as mentioned in the .txt was that when one clicks on a planet that is colonised, the effect plays when the planet display window is opened. Similar to clicking on a building in your avera...

I don't really see the need for different music tracks for different planet sizes or production focus (nor do I like the idea of different sounds for different focus buttons... too gimmicky).... Unless the sizes you were referring to were meant to be colony infrastructure level (eg. drek's infrastr...

Wow I'm an idiot, heh. Thanks to pd for also pointing out (on IRC) that the dll's were in the 0.2 folder as well, which I should've checked given that 0.2 was running fine, but oh well. :p On the planet background sounds, I figure we have four options. Assume you have a medium-size human farming col...

Not familiar with NVN, gamewise or musicwise. I spent several years hanging around professional composer types in college. Unfortunately almost all of them were only interested in writing for real instruments (which I'm not, really). Mostly though I just never managed to understand the process or th...

Yeah using voice to emphasize certain parts is fine, and really powerful when done well. (Why I said for the most part.) But that's different from a pop or rock soundtrack that has singing in almost every track. I love the Halo soundtrack. EDIT: My brain sucks. It looks very much like the Halo 2 sou...
