I like the fact they are trying to patent something that sounds exactly like OpenOffice - XML formatted word processor documents. Maybe they are getting scared.

not quite a release, but FreeCiv is a nice Civ clone project with full open source code. Homeworld also released their engine as well a few months back, but you have to register to get it.

if you guys want a good starting point, try grabbing a section of a hubble image: http://hubblesite.org/gallery/wallpaper/ then blend out the edges with the eraser tool. you could also try lasso with a large feathering radius, then erasing everything outside the selection. that should give a very ni...

tsev, i have to completely disagree with you. C++ For Dummies i have read parts of. It is awefull (Perl for Dummies on the other hand was pretty good).
