Re: Colony parts costs and ship upkeep costs
My opinion is we are fine as is. I really think the gamble between growing military power or empire size is very important and can be navigated to a near optimal point in each game when you do the right scouting.

Re: Forum Reorganization
So, should I just create an "Inspiration" thread on the "General discussion" forum ? Cool space facts are not directly related to FreeOrion until someone takes the time to think how it could be translated into game mechanics, but they're not entirely unrelated either (for many o...

Re: Twenty-sixth game on the multiplayer slow game server
I can cut some slack to o01eg this turn because his only fleet is in a military operation right now, but a one-week-long turn is not what we agreed upon. Look at it this way: we agreed to a 48h turn game with room for eventual longer pauses when needed (yes, we commented about that). I'm sure this ...

Re: Twenty-sixth game on the multiplayer slow game server
Since Christmas or so, to accommodate for people needing more than 48 hours.
And after that it stayed like that. But I am sure if o01eg isn't playing his turn is for a really good reason (or he just can't...).
You can browse this thread to find it.

Re: Sly and Buildings
Hmmm... If the regular building for moving planets can't be built in a GG, should a Transformer in a GG be able to mimic that building? I recall the script has safeguards for that kind of situation, not sure.

Re: Sly and Buildings
But from what you say that's probably more an artefact of ancient age when there were no Slys, even? Sí. Let's allow GGs to be hauled around. I'm all up for Gaia special (or a new special only for GGs, LR mentioned previous discussions on that) that boosts happiness and population (maybe smaller bo...

Re: Annexation feedback
i think troops should matter on invasion. we could e.g. all around double the defense troop amount (or only of defense tech if that is better). That would make invasion much more costly. Would that be fun or just more of a chore? We can try, but we could also try letting defense troops increase ann...

Re: Annexation feedback
I like the idea of more defense troops meaning greater annexation cost. Defense focus and defense troops are of little use right now. It's cool to force your enemies to need more troopships to finish you off, but that's it. Also, annexation is a so... intangible way of stealing a planet from you tha...

Re: Forum Reorganization
Well, maybe the extremely low activity of the off-topic forum is caused by the absence of such a sub-forum... It's not very encouraging to have to post something cool about space (that could be used as inspiration for the game, but you have no idea how, so can't do it in the "other game design...

Re: Universal Species/Industrialism Bonuses Guidelines attempt
Flat, pop-based and anything-based bonuses, regardless of it being focused or not, placed in priority 1 will get multiplied by both the species trait and the policies. means removing these old focus conditions: https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/blob/master/default/scripting/species/species_mac...

Re: Universal Species/Industrialism Bonuses Guidelines attempt
Priorities scheme (brief): 1. Before any multiplier. 2. First multiplier: species trait. 3. Between multipliers. 4. Second multiplier: policies. 5. After all multipliers. Flat, pop-based and anything-based bonuses, regardless of it being focused or not, placed in priority 1 will get multiplied by bo...

Re: Military stealth
Edit: And don't ever, ever, use the phrase "What you struggle to understand", at least in English (not sure of connotations in other languages). Its an incredibly arrogant and dismissive turn of phrase. The connotations are exactly the same in Spanish and probably in any other language of...
