what's the grey outer ring? That'll be the atmosphere, though it shouldn't be protruding so much. but you guys got remember these images will be scaled down. well, but the atmosphere dosn't appear grey, and it isnt visible all around the planet. :) i'm working on the planets too. this is what i got...

i'm sure you know this: you are sitting in front of the screen, watching your empire and are pressing the turn button again and again, cuz you are waiting for fleet xy arriving in system yz and notthing else is happening. since moo2 i wanted to be able to right-click(or whatever) on the turn button ...

I read in the graphics forum that each ship may be scaled to 1000 (or was it 5000) polygons
don't pay attention to this thread. nothing about this is decided yet, if i'm right informed.

besides this, 1000 polys per ship are simply a stupid idea (sorry)

they look very flat. because there seems to be only 1 light coming directly from the camera.

and the cloud bumps are too heavy in my mind.

underling: are you sure your display settings are set to 32bit?

your screenshot looks like it's only 16 bit and if i turn my display settings back to 16bit it looks the same like your screenshot.

5000 polys for 1 ship? so if both sides come with 20 ships we would have about 100000 polys. no engine can handle this on a home pc. ut2k3 models have a poly count of about 2000(2000 faces). and fo doesn't need such detailed models. i think you need some extrem low poly stuff for fo, cuz you will ha...

hmm, they are way too high poly in my mind. you can't use those models in a realtime engine if there are maybe hundreds of them(i hope fo will support such large battles :) and they don't need so many details(if you add details, do it with a texture map), cuz on the battle screen they will be displa...
