Re: Lithovores vs. Autotrophes
Given its MOO2 history, I would have thought anyone here mentioning Lithovores meant "eats minerals". Also if they eat sunlight wouldn't they be happier with some star types? Both The Chato'matou (Gormoshk don't care) and the Etty are stronger with more sunlight.
Re: Laenfa
Very nice, culture could have more detail, biology was great though! I'd never have thought of vines let alone composite multi-person vines like that.

Re: Eaxaw: Artwork
Dirt can easily made as hard as rock. Don't termites do this? Clay can become quite hard as well. I'm well aware of that, but even then it can't hold a candle to metals or properly prepared crystals. which is great because you can now balance this against the machine parts. I favor the second bunch...

Re: Eaxaw: Artwork
It never struck me as odd that xenophobes would use alien tech, they hate the people but have no strong opinions on the objects that they created, much like Hitler had no objection to useing Jewish money for his own ends. As for the new direction, I'm not so sure... spaceships made out of one of the...

Its good, but as I said back in the story thread this is not a new idea.

Re: The Campaign Mode
BTW, I've decided that the Silexians, (who might be renamed to Silexions, to avoid another -ians ending) have an EP of Barren so they can start all their gardening products from scratch in artificially protected areas. They now excel at breeding animals to assist them and get a huge bonus to biolog...

Re: The Campaign Mode
The first problem with that is the word "secret". If the AEIOU experience unrest due to a lack of exploration, the player needs to know the exact exploration value, threshold for the beginning of unrest, and how unrest scales as the exploration value decreases beyond the threshold point. ...

Josh, this is indescribably awesome, but I have to ask what the prespective for those pics are? To me most of them look like a side on view and rotated 90 degrees.

Re: The Campaign Mode
Sounds like overspecialisation to me, then again that's just a hold over from previous 4x games (all of them), free orion might make ...Is that sentence finished...? The rest of it was: it a viable strategy. Yes. It's easy enough to judge whether or not you're at war, but how does the game define b...

Re: The Campaign Mode
Well, essentially you have to take into account how racial picks will affect gameplay. The ultimate spy master's racial picks would be almost entirely, if not entirely focused on increasing their stealth, detection and espionage. Sounds like overspecialisation to me, then again that's just a hold o...

Re: The Campaign Mode
I think the Stonecarvers would divide their focus between espionage, defense, and stockpiling resources. Definitely not a purely espionage focused race. Oh certainly, overstockpiling resources is one of their big weaknesses (Plan A fails because they kept too much in reserve for Plan J) I think it ...

Re: The Campaign Mode
I'll respond to the other stuff when I have time, currently buried in coursework. Ultimate Spy Masters: Stonecarvers also fit this niche, its a natural offshoot of paranoia. I can see the stonecarvers being "wiped out" repeatedly then returning thanks to a contingency plan. (When things ar...

Re: Idea about spying
Go for a middle road, most races can choose governments but what governments they have options they have differ. George isn't going to go for a democracy for obvious reasons, either he won't have government picks at all or he'd have picks that are sound a like he got them from a self help book.

Re: Baby Space Monsters!
Animals do have personality, compare a vulture to a crocodile. Personality =/= to behavioral patterns. Only a person can have a personality. Space monsters don't really need to have different behavioral patterns beyond what they do to your planet if all the defenses are wiped out. behavioural patte...

Re: The Campaign Mode
Such a significant time span between campaigns may only occur only once or twice or not at all, depending on how the story is made. It certainly will not occur regularly, probably only if there is a massive tech-restarting disaster or a long golden age (in which case nobody has forgotten anybody be...
