I noticed a new one yesterday. The game would crash if I tried creating a galaxy as "10, ancient, few". My guess? the game couldn't find room for placing homeworlds.... Not really sure though. It happened consistently, too. Not just once. I did it several times and it crashed the same way ...

Shipyards

I'm wondering if you guys think shipyards would be a good addition to the game. I'd make it a planetary structure that would sit in orbit. Also (flavorwise at least) it would be largely automated and able to build ships with minimal resources invested.

Re: Exploration

Also, why is there only one build queue? I mean, would it not make sense that each planet would have its own seperate build queue? That way I can have one planet producing some colonists, and another producing warships, at the same time. I think we could do the following: Have one build queue, but ...

Edit: In MoO 3, Humanity was engineered by the Orions. In that case, humanity didn't get special treatment, as every race was engineered by either the Orions or Antarans. Not true. Their were two other species at play here. The "polarids" and some other race both of which you never see in...

Welll.... Not quite sure what you're saying needs fixed here. You seem to be saying the shared economy approach leads to cheap, cheesy strategies for taking you out quickly. My question is: "Don't they need to explore?" Exploring should at least clue you in that they're out there. Thus all...

I wouldn't make a speciallized ship required. I'd just make it a freighter required. Load the stuff into a freighter and haul it to a planet that does research. Yes, you could also wait till a battle between two other empires is over, you could then move in to scavange their tech (assuming that the...

hmm... a planet with the remnants of what was once a powerful interstellar empire? Meh. It's an old idea.... I'd rather go with making it a universe that DOESN'T have the standard "ancient war" history.... A universe where the races are all young races working towards making that history h...

I think this is it: viewtopic.php?t=815&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The thing is that too much "realism" makes it go from a strategy game to a galaxy sim.

Huh. Doesn't use things of questionable reality? I don't know about that. This device's purported effect is clearly based on theoretical results from a very... exotic... branch of physics (meaning, probably rubbish results). It's probably worth checking it out to see if the theorist's results actua...

Actually I did think of another reason to add Binaries. It'd make FreeOrion unique. MoO has never had them, Space Empires, Stars!, I've never played a 4X game that did have them.

It'd add an interesting twist to the game that I haven't seen before.
