uh... it is now :-) i didn't know it was a whole lib. I might have to look into it for my own projects. $apt-get install log4cpp* man, i love Debian! Next question: Where do i get libGiGI from? it's not on the sourceforge downloads page. Seeing as how that's the case and since i could not easily fin...

v0.2 Build Issues

I'm trying to get v0.2 to compile on a Debian Testing box. I used $ ./update-configure.sh $ ./configure I have no clue what it wants or how to fix it. it borks in this section of the config: configure:7533: checking log4cpp/Category.hh usability configure:7545: g++ -c -DFREEORION_LINUX conftest.cc >...

Star colors are usefull if they corespond roughly to their (potential) contents. For instance, in MOO1, the yellow and green stars were alwys first to get hit on the scouting mission. White/Red stars where usually useless.

Politics can be donated by label colors or some other kind of box/ring/icon

this solved my similar -GLU link problem:

put a symlink to libMesaGLU in the parent directory of the actual file. For whatever weird reason, the system picks up the symlick but not the actual file in it's native directory (but picks up all the other files in that directory...)

If someone knows a better way to do the list of integers sorted by a value other than that of the integers, I'd like to hear about it (if it doesn't involve writing a custom list class, which I figured I probly shouldn't be doing...) Could you restate that a different way. i'd like to help on that ...

I would actually move the star itself. It seems hokey, but really it isn't going to be noticable if you only knudge it over by one parsec. You also avoid all the recalculation voodoo. The only problem is if you move the star and it is now in some OTHER lane's path. so A--------B--------C becomes A--...

My idea was similar: Have2 or more texture layers as mapped quads. The actual textures need to be greyscale. In OpenGL, you color the texture and draw it slightly rotated. Then draw the next layer. As time goes by, layer 1 rotates clockwise at some arbitrary speed, and layer 2 rotates CCW, so that t...

The backdrop is very very good. Nice job.

The font, while it does feel "epic", is a bit on the "fantasy" side of the spectrum. If that's the feel we're going for, good. Otherwise, i would go with something a little more sleek. just MHO

That's Daveybaby's project. he's been on it for some time, but he also hangs out here on this forum and is very helpful. He's been working on his project for longer than FO has been around and he's got some screenshots too (the graphics are lacking... at least it works though)

At this current stage in the development, the group here is trying NOT to attract a lot of attention. When there is more of a solid, testable product to show off, more pointed promotion will kick in. Most of the people on this board and project are people who were watching the development of Master ...

- As far as pure design goes, make sure you give lots of margin space. The text in the sample is very vertically cramped. - Few simple icons would add flavor and visual feebdack. Icons i'd put in would be one to show the battle status and/or size (i like knowing which fights are the *big* ones), and...

Very interesting creature! His tail needs to be longer and heavier if you actually want him to remain standing however. He's a bit off balance as he is now. Also, his knees need to be lower. It feels like he is incapable of sitting or laying down. And just for fun, i would make him completely eyeles...

You didn't try to roll your own random number generator did you? A difference in randum numbers should not create a bug.
