Re: Help with advanced tech/unlock...?

Bombardment is, in my opinion, a tool that probably shouldn't be employed often, especially by new players. Very seldom would I suggest it against native species. Yes, you reduce the population and eventually defense forces, but I generally think you're better off trying to capture natives with full...

Re: AI Colony base travelling the starlanes

Back in the day, colonizing solely with ships was a major endeavor. When you found a likely planet, you had to see which planets that could build a colony ship AND had compatible population was reasonably near. Often there wasn't, and you'd need to either wait, or send a colony ship on a long journe...

Re: AI Colony base travelling the starlanes

I guess I'm just amazed that the AIs could come up with a totally new ship design. It seems like something a human player come up with.

Re: Problem with drydock repairs

It does look like repairs are going on. I had to go back and stop research into repair techs because that was confusing things.

Problem with drydock repairs

I'm playing the latest stable release. I had system with two planets with orbital drydocks. One of the planets had the population cleared for repopulation. After that, no repairs would take place at the system, with the message: "On Path III: the Orbital Drydock is abandoned, there is no one left to...

Re: Inquiry about custom sitreps

One thing I'd like to have is an option for it to display "No New Reports" rather than the one from the previous turn.

If there is one and I missed it, sorry.

Re: how to look at how multiplayer is done?

This is sort of a general problem with PHPBB. If you continue to have problems, create your message in a text editor and paste it in. Also, with many browsers you can just go back and find your editing window still populated.

Re: FreeOrion battle mechanics: questions

As a more general point, when you build warships has a lot to do with the type of universe you set up. The greater the spacing, the less likely you will be to need warcraft early except for monsters or defended native planets. That should help guide your research path.

Re: AI fleets skipping past my blockading fleet

Hmm... OK, why is invasion handled differently from colony or outpost placement then? It's always been that way. It's important when there native planets at a system with defending monsters. For example, with a Maintenance Ship, you can send in troop ships alone if you want to take the planet becau...

Yeah, I ran into some attachment weirdness. I think it might have happened with Preview as well.

Re: Issues with colonisation (maybe with outposting/troops too)

Right. Often more important for invasion if you have a mix of troop ships of various sizes. I'd prefer if outposts defaulted to the first outpost base, but that would be extra work for modest gain.

Nopes. Latest weekly test build has it for sure.
Ok, something to look forward to.

Re: Feedback on recent UI changes (v0.4.9)

I've been playing on the multiplayer games for the last few months and I hadn't the chance to see the ongoing work on the UI until recently. A circle demarcating the boundaries of galaxy fields such as Ion Storms that shows up when hovering the mouse pointer over them. That sounds great, but I don'...
