Re: Re:
One point, the "Victory Movie" for Transcendance should probably have something like a speaker in the background "...for millenia sentient races across the galaxy have wondered at the mysteries of existence and reality. The Orions are known to have puzzled this long and hard, but the answer is lost...

Re: Simulacrons
Because of the subjective nature of time this race can break the rules on Research requiring a minimum time, they may proceed at some excelerated rate (probaly incressing as they improve in tech). So for example if a tech should take 5 points for 20 years they could do 10 points for 10 years. Their...

Re: Eleazar's personal evalutation of Species ideas
First, I salute to your efforts in reading through the race descriptions, eleazar. They are massive amounts of text. I've thought a bit about how this will be implemented to FO. Of course, it will be a long time until the races will be considered for design, but wanted to prematurely discuss anyhow....

Re: A planatary special and an easter egg
I don't see the point of Tortanic's aversion to the human race. Why not include humans when it's easy to create artwork and other concepts and it is one specie we can easily relate to? Why story writers cannot avoid "special treatment" of humans easily? We are not genetically wired to say only good ...

Re: A planatary special and an easter egg
Wouldn't we want humans as one of the playable species? If so, shouldn't humans' homeworld be the earth?

Re: Eleazar's Multi-Species Empire ideas.
Since the empire will always start with a single species and only can become multi-species after a while, I think there should be an easy way for a human player to tell what the current demographics of my empire on balance prefer. If I start out as a warlike specie but assimiliates vast amount of pe...

Also, minimum time does not overly disadvantage research races. Rather than finishing each tech faster, these races will be able to research more techs simultaneously, or research more expensive techs at maximum speed (if you have too few RP, techs take longer than their minimum research time). Reg...

Role-oriented ships can be created by the player by simply putting in only the weapons of the player's choice and nothing else to a given ship and by naming the ship design as such. There is no need to restrict ships for a specific goal. If we want an easy access to such design, this can be done by ...

I think not allowing RPs to carry through to the next research project will reward tedious micromanaging of the research investment slider, and therefore is not good. I heard one of Civ IV's goal was to eliminate the "extra RP purging" at the end of a tech discovery, which was the case in Civ III. I...

* Should ships have more than one type of weapon on them? Having more than one weapon requires a way to pick which to use in a given situation, which compilicates the UI. Having only one or more than one weapon of significantly different strategic role or range on a single ship would affect the str...

A general question: are we using the same engine for starlane travel and STL combat? I would assume engines for these two activities should be different as stretch limo engine is different from dirt bike engine. One simple way (excluding equating the two) is allowing two applications for each engine...

Just saw a documentary called "If We Had No Moon" - Earth would have been an Ocean planet if a smaller planet didn't crash on it and create our Moon. There was an evolutionary biologist conjecturing what would've been in our place. She mentioned octopus - supposedly the most intelligent in invertebr...

This is a related idea but not for this version of FO. What would determine the number of votes you have for the galactic senate? Possible choices are: 1) total # of "real" number of individuals shown in the fun-facts page 2) total abstract number of actual pop points 3) total max pop points, regard...

The only solution to this is to make each starlane a ruler, eg if little marks along the starlane, so a starlane that is 4 starlanes long will have 3 marks. I doubt that would be very helpful or aesthetically pleasing. First of all, if two stars are close by, the marks would be crowded together, ma...

Additional art doesn't make an idea unKISS. However, transitional planet types are IMHO unKISS or at least inappropriate for this game. Planet types are divided up into a few distinct states. There is no "dry terrain" or "cold barren" or "slightly radiated inferno." With limited types distinct grap...
