Racial picks --> Possible Victory Conditions?

Maybe we could put additional victory conditions in the racial picks. Say I wanted to be able to have a "Technological Singularity" victory. I spend 3 racial points, and the condition becomes enabled (i) . The player gets the advantage of having the new path to victory, but it costs them. ...

Wow. It's actually starting to sound like a good idea. ^_^

I think there could be a racial pick that allows your units to use certain alternate means of interplanetary transport.

Then they'd have to do additional research to be able to refine it.

I'm a little worried that all these extras might get a bit distracting...

What would be the benefit of having non-spaceship travel? Besides ground forces, aren't spaceships basically the only things that have any real reason to travel between stars?

Or is it meant to act like freighter fleets in MoO2?

Yeah... but what about the engines? You'd have the almost-compulsory task of going through your entire fleet (your mobile fleet) and upgrading every single ship one-by-one. It just seems like it would be a really laborious chore just so you can see any benefit from your new engine technology.

Conquest is the only true victory... But until then, I'm a lover of science. The first to declare war on me gets to be my mop. I tend to ally with weaklings and let them choose my enemies for me. There's only room for one conquerer. That's a question, would it be possible to have an allied victory?

I could see that, but at the same time, I kind of want interplanetary engine upgrading to be easier than having to go through your entire fleet to auto-upgrade or manual-upgrade every last one. I mean, whether or not you care that your ship's pretty weak in battle, you'll care that it's holding back...

The way I see it: 1. They won't be using Roman-style characters, so it's hard to justify a cryptic spelling on the basis of "that's how they spell it" . 2. It's unlikely they'll even be using words that can be represented in a Roman letter set -- in the case of the "Kobolds", the...

Bizarre names...

How do people feel about the bizarre naming conventions, as seen in the "Post your races here" thread? I mention this because it occurs to me that eventually we'll have to have characters with names, and etc, and the names could get rather messy. I don't really understand it. I mean, what ...

I think the current plan is to have basic augmentative buildings built automatically as "infrastructure" relevant to the set focus of a planet. I think it's a great way to handle it, because it eliminates all of the obvious choices (excepting the possible decisions between this production ...

Just as long as we aren't losing the advantage of being a technologically advanced race. Research should count for more than quirks. Wait, I'm starting to get this kind of impression from this: Rather than it being: Research lasers --> Research refined lasers ---> Research plasma cannon It's like th...

And I don't really see how you'd be able to upgrade your "laser cannon" to an "ion cannon" any more easily. I would assume that the weapons would have different power requirements and would require different targeting systems. "Refitting" might seem fairly extreme for i...

Australian English Stringtable

I was just wondering whether anyone would have a problem with me making an Australian English stringtable (I think I'll wait until the stringtable's more complete, though). I know that the changes will be fairly minimal -- but I think it's nice to see armour spelt with a "u". For now, I co...

Hmm. Extending the easy-click-upgrade to upgrade weapons and such could work. Though I think that maybe it should be restricted only to refinements (and things like engines and armour). I'd still like for ships to become obsolete so that the ship design part of the game stays interesting. You can re...

It should be more respectable than genocide, but not respectable. I haven't really looked into the real-world ramifications as much as I could have, but they're only partially relevant. I see it as a spectrum: Coexistence Relocation Enslavement Genocide The top being the most humane. They also all ...
