I loved playing a certain PC game called Master of Orion (Remember it??). Now I came across the CD's for it the other day, and ...

Havent tried the demo yet, but of course it has SP. Dunno about hotseat. Nasty meteors are the only random event in this demo. Full release will have other random events, i.e. also less meteors. I like the 1planet per system solution (see also moo1) quite a lot. Lets face it....the AI can barely com...

Re: Space strategy: Where and how?

I beleive that orginality is key as well as options. In Moo2 there were few different weapons types. You had Beams, Missiles, Torpedos, Pulsar and that was it (only differences are stats or RPS). In Worms you have so many weapon types that were so different. Grenade (bounced), Bazooka (quick and im...

Re: several ideas on making little ships useful in late game

And that got me thinking, as in most MoO games, any player using small craft at the end of the game would be considered a fool. So it got me several ideas: 4. anything can hit large ships. but smaller are harder to hit the bigger guns you have. First of all, it didnt really matter what ships you us...

In galciv 2 space combat is pathetic. Combat involves moving your ship into the same square as the enemy ship. Then combat occurs. The pre-1.2 battle system was completely absurd....attacker had even first shot....and therefore it was pretty easy to take out the AI. I am stunned they can release su...

The last official patch 1.31 of moo2 invented Ship Initiative. Attacker don't necessarily move first then any longer.

The way to do that is to design the game so how many ships you can build stays nearly constant through out the tech tree. Didn't happen in MOO2, there the higher you were in the tech tree the more ships you could build. (the max productivity of your HW started at 18 PP/turn and ended up at ~180 PP/...

I think that if you don't accept that you need to inherently weight some types of units against others, then there is really only one unit type and it's just a question of who can cram more guns onto that one unit type. This is what MOO2 does,... Your observation must be based on the AI. Right, the...

I have also observed the development a bit. And I think it looks like a modern Moo1.

I almost agree with every decision they made. The only exception is that I still prefer a turnbased tactical combat. But I also doubt that there will be a game with turnbased combat in near future. So I will buy it.
