Re: Do you restart games to get a nice home system?
Its weird to me because there's so much research to building up not only the RP and PP income, but also giving more population (which boosts income), and terraforming and all that. its all cool but... the AI is pretty good at the genetic algorithm business from what I've seen. They have roboIIIs on ...

Re: Do you restart games to get a nice home system?
I've been tempted. Sometimes a bit severely. I'll post a screenshot of my latest one. Its causing me to play a long drawn out game of 250 turn+, however I AM winning because I adapted. That's what I think is important, the ability to adapt. If Galaxy generation were 'perfect' in my opinion, what wou...

Re: Explore autofunction should avoid detectable hostile shi
Similar, but the idea I would guess is reducing micromanagement. I still use explore, and scouts of low tech may be a viable alternative for mid or late game stationary detectors in lieu of spending RPs on higher detection.

Re: I think the rebuild option would work better staggering.
Hmm, thinking about it there is in the earlier game a use for a repeat mechanic that would put the repeated order at the bottom of the queue. I tend to want to build scouts a lot and have them repeat at the top, but I then want outposters, cruisers and carriers to alternate unless I interfere. If I...

Got it, I can check when I get back. It was pretty spaced out in my local zone. I'll throw a screenshot.

Re: Does the AI cheat?
If you're referring to the game, I was going for titanic hull but I have to get those early research points into survival first so that I can go into the lategame without getting crushed early on by all those damn cerberuses. Right now they're throwing large roid ships with 4 plasma cannons at me. I...

Re: Why does PP share or not, why cant my cruisers shoot?
I think I figured out why my stuff wasn't 'shooting'. It might have to do with the shields of other ships. I ran a group of small hull corvettes against a maint ship monster, clearly superior fleet attack power and better fleet hp, but individually its 3 damage vs the 3 defense of the shields so it ...

Re: Does the AI cheat?
I felt as though it was probably less cheating and more having some basic tech already unlocked. Keep getting swamped by Cerberus 3's or 4's within 100 turns.
How many turns is a game supposed to go in general? Im at 237 and its starting to bog down heavily.

Re: Are custom ship designs essential to playing?
I'm getting a feeling that the fewer slots there are on a ship, the more the base stats matter in terms of ship design focus, and vice versa.

Are custom ship designs essential to playing?
I've started testing out this function and it seems like there's a number of ships you can't get in the base game without creating your own from the hulls. I used to make improved engine coupling and thought they automatically get added to any ships, but it seems like in order to use them you have t...

Re: A ship with no sensors. Can it still attack?
Bah, thanks. I still don't know the game that well. This thing has a learning curve like dwarf fortress.
I just realized today that I could check the finished ships already in game to see how they're built and none of the basic attack ships have sensors attached, so that clues me in a bit.

A ship with no sensors. Can it still attack?
Are sensors required to attack, to the point that custom ships with no sensors would be worthless? Do ships share sensor info such that a scout can be attached to sensorless ships to allow them to attack, if sensors are needed to attack?
