Re: Getting ready for 0.4.6

I think just consistently calling it "base damage" would be clear. That implies that there are other effects that could change the total, but that the number listed in the pedia entry is where it's starting from. Which is an accurate reflection of what's going on in code. So, for example, ...

Re: Roadmap for the next release

I don't have any specific projects in mind at the moment, but there are some long term things some of which are dependent on other stuff—I want to do a balance pass on species, possibly adding more, and we know the tech tree needs work already and will need even more for Influence, I don't know how...

I would definitely appreciate a smaller font size. Screen real estate is at a premium on my laptop, and every bit of saved space is welcome.

Re: Ship

That said, we need to replace that 65K stealth value display. This obviously causes confusion. The UI should give some clear indication that you've been attacked by something you could not see, you only know something was there (because it blew you up), but don't know what. So, instead of displayin...

Re: Poison advance

What about a tradeoff? The power output from the BHPG (Big Honking Plasma Gun?) disrupts starlane travel in a 50uu radius, reducing ship speed by 20? Or some such. Another thumbs-up for this idea! Big production bonus vs starlane speed is a really interesting strategic decision to have to make, and...

Re: New Starlane Stuff

When originally coded, there was no limit, I put it in. For the most part, trust me, it was needed, especially in a Ring galaxy. If you go into your Default/Scripting/Buildings folder in the game directory the file starlane_nexus.focs.txt is editable. If you put a comment in front of the WithinDist...

Re: Late game lag-substantial reduction?

I mostly play on a wimpy little laptop, and the latest test builds are definitely better than the official v0.4.5 release from 2015-09-01, which I was playing until just recently. The UI still starts to get a bit laggy in late game, but it's not as bad as it was. Good work!

New Starlane Stuff

I just recently switched from playing v0.4.5 from 2015-09-01 to one of the more recent Test builds (from 2016-08-02, I think?), and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new starlane techs and the addition of the planetary beacon ship component! The ability to reconfigure the map is a lot of fun and it opens up so m...

Re: Unique asteroid names

Welcome to the forums doc, and thank you for these suggestions! My concern with Kuiper Belt is not so much it being human centric, but that it is a proper name that would not apply to a classification. Thanks! That's a good point. Although I think as we find evidence of Kuiper Belt-type structures ...

Re: Unique asteroid names

May I suggest: I - Sungrazers (Sg) II - Inner Belt (IB) III - Eccentrics (Ec) IV - Main Belt (MB) V - Trojans (Tj) VI - Outer Belt (OB) VII - Kuiper Belt (KB) 0 - Asteroids (As) If there's only one asteroid belt in the system, it should probably be named simply "Asteroids", regardless of p...
