Re: Latest Feedback
TL;DR Then why even waste time replying? I'm not involved in the game code, but what you describe is either an hallucination from your part or a bug. I've used every version for about 4 years now. Planet density changes depending on how many systems you pick. That part is probably true. Universe ge...

Latest Feedback
As my sometimes custom I post a feedback thread. (I'm using the July 2020 version now) https://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10095 https://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10639 First one went well and the 2nd degenerated because of of the audacity of me to critici...

Re: New version has the same old problems
IamZeke, just for your information - trading, espionage and diplomacy are currently in the design phase. There are talks about implementing "influence" system in not far off future. I agree that High planet density (or maybe "Highest") should guarantee at least one planet in eve...

Re: New version has the same old problems
I have found ancient ruins several times. Maybe around 1 or 2 games out of ten I get one before AI does, and sometimes there are two or even three to get (last game I have I got one and two other AIs got one each). Are you playing with low specials setting? High setting every time. 150-200 systems ...

New version has the same old problems
So about a year ago I posted up some comments and we had a lot of talk about it. There was some congenial sharing and some disagreements but I definitely thought I saw some interest to get some things done. Here's the thread: http://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10095 So when the ...

Re: My Feedback
Moving another booster to early game will help, or will giving more boost to an existing early one would do the same. So would simply reducing some of the early research point costs for some of the basics. But then you get the planet numbers steamroller going and the researches start flying through....

Re: My Feedback
It's been a couple weeks and a dozen games since my last post. Still trying new things. I've definitely come to prefer cluster galaxies to reduce the number of empty systems. Big thanks on that tip earlier. I've noted 3 things worth taking about. First is the somewhat irritating nature of new coloni...

Re: Lord of Rigel: Oldschool 4x Space Strategy
Looks interesting. Might have been interested in buying it. But you went with Steam. Nothing Steam related gets anywhere near my computer or wallet. If I was Carl Icahn I would buy Steam stock, screw with their board of directors, plant lies about financial wrongdoing, and then short sell the stock ...

Re: Need Game Suggestions
I did buy once from gog but the game did require going through them again to install on a later pc. Might have just been the game though. Some game files resist being copied over. That game itself wanted to stay in contact with the maker's server online. Yeah, I've done the MOO and a lot of the more...

Need Game Suggestions
I like single player 4x, but as you know the genre has plateaued in the last decade. But even though I'm happy to play older games they don't always work with the newer OS's. Worse is something I really hate, services like Steam. It's nosy and intrusive. Worse is it has led to them controlling the a...

Re: My Feedback
Why exactly does the AI add another race colony to an existing populated planet? Many times I will capture a planet with an existing race, only to find a another race colony in the build cue. Not that I can do that. I have depopulate with a concentration camp before I can add a new racial colony. I ...

Re: My Feedback
Of fighters being added I have two very opposing thoughts. First as a player not knowing about the excess ship problem because fighters from space ships sounds very cool. And then you have the great mass of ships causing lag now making me fret that lag is about to really jump. I guess I'll just hav...

Re: My Feedback
The main use of decoys is currently a UI fix, there's no way to force planetary defences to fire at a passive enemy unit (a floater or scout) unless oyu have an aggressive unit in the system. That's not idea and needs fixing. Chaff is basically coming with the Fighters branch (which isn't going to ...

Re: My Feedback
I just finished turn 350 in a game tonight. The game was basically won by then due to my overwhelming production and research advantage, but the AI still had a big stack of about 250 ships parked in the system next to a critical choke point where a breakthrough would have made me vulnerable for a wh...

Re: My Feedback
There are drawbacks, like being able to pump up industry at an isolated colony... That, and the resulting potential to abuse it via micromanagement-intensive shuttling, is a major reason this isn't done. Agreed. I've seen this kind of thing abused before in games. Scrapping ships should only count ...
