Re: Issues in 0.4 RC 2
I am also still unsure how to know when something is at a system after you just got wiped from there (eg. you send a scout to a system with a monster nest, your scout just dies, but the planet is not marked in any way, so if you're adequately big, it's very hard to keep track). Some kind of icon mig...

Re: Issues in 0.4 RC 2
Ahhh, so it's not a tooltip at all, it's whether you passed the conditions for it. It read as such weird English, lack of punctuation and capitalization and all - it made very little sense to me

Re: Issues in 0.4 RC 2
I assume the green (PASSED) thing in the hover-over description is unintentional. The tips seemed like they were missing something and that this PASSED should have been filled in with something else instead. And I do not wish to see other windows, but being able to occasionally alt-tab is nice, not ...

Re: Issues in 0.4 RC 2
I was unable to enter any text in my game (for instance for renaming or designing ships). Restarting the client fixed this. I presume it might be because I tried to alt-tab, behaviour which seems to not be supported in the client (as it simply does not work, I see my menu bar, but FreeOrion stays on...

Re: Newcomers! What's confusing about Contributing to FreeOr
I think you already nailed one of the most important ones: the fact that a lot of the 'shell' of the project is horribly outdated. Perhaps we should see if we can get some of the regulars, that do not otherwise contribute, overhaul the wiki and make sure it keeps linking to up-to-date files and info...

Re: Recent Windows Builds
It's also been tweeted about . Yep, to all 11 of our followers (counting devs). We need to work a little harder to make the twitter account known. I have at least that many friends interested in this project, I just found out about this great new release candidate - which I will be testing the hell...

Re: Apparent new phishing attack on the forums
I can confirm that I have also received this e-mail. I've included the header, in case one of you feels like digging into the source. The IP used in the e-mail does seem to be this board, so there may simply be some bug going on. Return-path: <tyreth@gmail.com> Received: from smtp20.tb.mail.iss.as91...

Re: Recent Windows Build
Yeah it's not worth the effort really, get Subversion and use it to download the TRUNK instead. Also if I can spare the time I think I will just make an archive available containing the trunk, since Pd decided his mirror was best for the main package anyway. That way I make myself a little useful

Re: Recent Windows Build
I was under the impression he was referring to the files he included in that VC90 build, my bad, sorry. Now if only I had a way to download that tarball.... The speed just drops to 0 after a short amount of time, and it can't be resumed. Edit: Trying a different SVN than subversion now also. Doesn't...

Perhaps I am missing a step then, I thought it was enough to do
FreeOrion-0.3.15-Setup.exe
FreeOrion_Win32_VC90_3917.zip
FreeOrion_Win32_3993.zip
The SVN download keeps crashing around 10mb.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
Unless it uses even other paths than C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\FreeOrion, then yes, I annihilated everything FreeOrion.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
Already tried killing every FreeOrion related directory and reinstalling everything all over again. The installation order is in my previous post and should be exactly as pd described it. The basic installation (0.3.15) works 'fine' (it's just extremely slow with generating the universe). When I ext...

Re: Recent Windows Builds
Getting the same problem - reinstalling / running as admin did not help at all. The game just is stuck in a black window with in the bottom left two windows each with the title ERROR_something.

Re: Recent Windows Builds
I'm pretty sure I can permanently host a file of roughly 10mb on a fast location myself also. I've sent you a personal message containing my contact details, if you e-mail it to me I'll see if I can upload it to my provider's webspace.
