Re: Apparent new phishing attack on the forums

That makes more sense than someone going to the trouble of setting up another version of this forum just to get our passwords. This forum is pretty small fry, and I can understand bots going at it, but I was baffled at what seemed like actual effort.

Apparent new phishing attack on the forums

I got an e-mail on my mail account that's connected with these forums today, addressing me by "#uname" and informing me that I had a new private message. There was a link to a forum that looks exactly like this one, but addressed by IP address rather than through dns. I do not have a new p...

Sword of the Stars

Since this sub-forum is for discussing other strategy games, I thought I'd bring to your attention a game I've been following the development of for quite a while now: Sword of the Stars. I'll summarise some features and points regarding it here, but for more information there's the Official site , ...

Slots? We're talking slots? IMO, the limit on number of "big" guns in a ship should be a question of tonnage and volume only. Slots make for restrictive ship design. This is bad from the POV of the player. Slots are one of the reasons I always liked the Imperium Gallactica series much less...

I was just thinking about how Rings will be aplied to planets. It would seem to me that the best strategy is to have 2 seperate Half Rings. Once layed down UNDER the planet and the other layed down OVER the planet to create a complete and enclosing ring. They might also be animated but if so the an...

I agree with most of this, except the DE2 point. DE2 was ruined by lots of things, but not by its freedom. As if it had much. sorry for going a bit of-topic, but why do you think DX2 wasn´t ruined by the freedom it offered? This was my main complaint, either the developers got totally obsessed with...

i guess i understand what Lyx is trying to say and i agree with him. i also think it is an issue and deserves attention. "Give the player all the freedom" is exactly what ruined Deus Ex 2. In the original design, races & artwork should be fixed (maybe have 1 race that has special artw...

combos sound nice. having only 1 building of each type/empire would probably need to be balanced depending on galaxy size... time to bring a question up: do we really need different sizes of galaxies? there are several problems here: the speed of research will vary, which could be fixed, but what a...

If the level of defense is displayed on the galactic map, say as 1-5 dots beneath/above/beside a star, star name, or whatever, you wouldn't have to "drill down" and check all these planets for what defense level they have. Planets should start with level 1 defense by default, so you'd hav...

That's basically the return of the stack from Moo1. Moo3 had a hard limit on the number of ships in combat. If a hard limit is wanted at all on how many ships are "active" in combat, that limit could be made dependent on hull sizes -- and the number of vertexes for a ship could also be dep...

The last part you say is the problem. You end up ordering your planets to build defense on your newly undeveloped backwater planets where it should be industrial focused. You end up have to go to each of these planets and check. If the level of defense is displayed on the galactic map, say as 1-5 d...

Yes. Moo2 uses a 256 colour VGA palette. In a 256 colour palette you define the colour value of each colour "slot" in the palette. Windows uses a standard palette, which is different from the one used in Moo2. You should get some screen capture program that also saves the palette.
