Re: Will there be a official Ubuntu Release for 0.4.5?

Hi, the Debian maintainer here 8) You can also add this PPA to your system which provides more current versions of FreeOrion. It is maintained by me. http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Download#Personal_Package_Archives_.28PPA.29 At the moment you can install 0.4.5~RC1 for Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.04 via...

thx
Yes, that is possible. FreeOrion can be built on arm64, armhf and armel. Debian does that already.

Re: Porting to Android

It appears there are already several guides out there that explain how you can run Debian or Ubuntu on your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692270 http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ASUS_Eee_Pad_Transformer/How_to_install_Ubuntu/Ubuntu_Install If you are able to install o...

Re: Crash cab4aa

I think Dilvish has already explained why I uploaded this specific FreeOrion snapshot to Debian. I don't rebuke anybody. Actually I was fully aware that the svn/git migration was going on but I wasn't concerned at all, I even communicated that back then (can't find the thread now) and I still don't ...

Re: Crash cab4aa

That sounds fine to me in general, and so I guess my suggestion above to more directly support that manual version specification is unneeded? Or would that still be helpful to you? Let's say that I would prefer a fixed version string when you release a stable version of FreeOrion. I would expect th...

Re: Crash cab4aa

Hi folks, I think AndrewW was right to report this issue here in this forum. Just FYI how I came up with "cab4aa" in the first place and how I package versions of FreeOrion for Debian. If you disagree or if there is a better way to do it, please correct me and point me to the better alternative. Eve...

Re: Build procedure is not python3 compatible

The main blocker I think is Boost. If boost is not python3 compatible, I don't think there's a big point in forcing a conversion. I can't imagine that Boost is Python3 incompatible. https://packages.debian.org/unstable/libboost-python1.55-dev Debian's boost-python package claims all versions of Pyt...

Re: Build procedure is not python3 compatible

From Debian's point of view there shouldn't be any problem because Python 3.4 is fully supported and since Debian is one of the more conservative Linux distributions, I assume that's also not a problem for Arch Linux, Gentoo, Fedora and Co.

Re: Build procedure is not python3 compatible

Hi, there is also 2to3 which might help you with porting your Python2 code to Python3. https://docs.python.org/2/library/2to3.html http://www.diveintopython3.net/porting-code-to-python-3-with-2to3.html Debian supports Python2 and Python3 and Python 2.7 is still supported upstream. However there will...

Re: working revision for (l)ubuntu 15.04?

This issue was filed in Debian's bug tracker two weeks ago. https://bugs.debian.org/783839 Here is my patch based on the information I had found in this forum. https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/freeorion.git/patch/?id=e2cfd4f5ca65e5bfeb253472f0cdcfdf3d5e20d9 It should cleanly apply with 0.4....

Re: Debian Git snapshot of FreeOrion now available

What about art and sound files that are kept in the repository, non-source content text files, etc? There's lots of non-source stuff in the repository, but I'm not sure why you'd want to remove much of it. All of the repository is released under suitably "free" licenses, though. Ah, sorry that's a ...

Re: Debian Git snapshot of FreeOrion now available

Hello, yes, I still maintain FreeOrion for Debian and I regularly stop by to see what's going on here. :) Dilvish asked me to provide a snapshot release, so I put it in Debian experimental for the time being. As soon as 0.4.5 is released, I will update the information about FreeOrion's git repositor...

Re: Debian Git snapshot of FreeOrion now available

Hi, I think mixing different distributions (Mint Ubuntu with pure Debian) is not a good idea. Although Mint and Ubuntu are derived from Debian and most of the packages are identical, they might be compiled for different versions. This all can lead to obvious dependency problems or subtle programming...

Debian Git snapshot of FreeOrion now available

I have uploaded a Git snapshot of FreeOrion to Debian's "experimental" branch which I have to use due to the current development freeze of the distribution. It can be downloaded the usual way by adding deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian experimental main to /etc/apt/sources.list and by performing a...
