Truepurple, the issue you observe is simply due to a limitation of the underlying game engine. Currently, only two different types of things can be produced: ships and buildings. You are certainly right about that, especially with the 5.0 Release in mind, but basically that amounts to acknowledging that the new Influence, Policies and Stability mechanisms broke the game. The idea was to replace it entirely with Influence, right ? Is that something in v5? It won't be already in the upcoming 0.5 release, but the idea is that eventually the increase cost mechanic will be replaced by influence maintenance costs. I expect it to arrive within the subsequent 0.5.x release...

Normal pathing in game is probably pretty challenging in games with different levels and stuff to get snagged on with 3d games, lots of games get it wrong. But the path ships take are very simple. I haven't followed all the design discussion of late, but one thing that definitely needs to be done for the release is a pedia page telling how to get policy slots. So far I always search the script files, but that should not be the official way, I guess :? There are probably a lot of issues/short...
