Re: Compiling on Windows

Excellent. It is working now. Many thanks for you efforts.

One last question. When I run the updates in the future, am I correct in assuming that I have to always build the solution again?

Re: Compiling on Windows

Looks like you don't have the GG files in the expected location relative to the FreeOrion solution, for some reason. Then this would have to be true for much more than the GG files. It is popping up for pretty much everything it tries to grab when building the solution. I'm a bit confused about the...

Re: Compiling on Windows

[quote=The problem is that you're trying to modify the contents of Program Files; even administrator accounts have restrictions on doing this in Windows 7 that can lead to weird errors or silent failures to modify files. Move the SDK to the desktop, root directory of the drive, or somewhere else not...

Re: Compiling on Windows

Windows 7 I was trying to update and run recently, but had some issues. So I deleted my previous FreeOrion files, and went to start from the beginning. 1. Downloaded and extracted the SDK 2. Selected 'SVN Checkout' after which I get the following error (10 seconds in or so). Using TortoiseSVN Error:...

Re: Newcomers! What's confusing about Contributing to FreeOr

Is the best place to see what the most recent revision at this link?

http://cia.vc/stats/project/FreeOrion/

And with how quick it appears that revisions come out, does that mean that I have to rebuild every several days or so to stay semi up-to-date?

Re: Tech Tree Issues

Always forget to post that info... v0.3.17+ [SVN4342] (Windows platform) Am I running an old version again?!? I see it when I first find the planet and place my cursor over the ancient ruins special characteristic...where it shows the pyramid style icon with the planet's information in the right sid...

Tech Tree Issues

A few other things I noticed on the tech tree: 1. Say I have a research queue, but I am also looking through my tree. If I select something on the tree, the description and Navigation update correctly. However, if I select the item from my queue (single click) the Navigation does not update. 2. When...

Re: Compiling on Windows

Ok, that wasn't quite as painful as I had thought. I had apparently messed up the part with the SVN on my first go around. So it seems that I have gotten it work ok, though I noticed that I had a few errors during game play, and due to my lack of computer knowledge, I am not sure if they could be co...

Re: Colonizing Crash

Hmmm, I am embarrassed to admit it, but I think that building this myself may be out of my league.

Don't suppose you are aware of a post somewhere developed for the full-blown lay-man? Or perhaps I should just stick with the precompiled...

Re: Stargates - How do they work?

Ok, and as far as the Stargates, was that a resolved issue (i.e. user error, bug, etc.)?

Just wondering, if it was a user error, what it is I am doing wrong...

Bioterror Facility

Just as a part of messing around, I thought I would check out how the bioterror facility works. However, after trying to get it to work, I have to ask two questions: 1. In the description of the building, it notes that it will decrease the health of enemy planets within 4 jumps, provided they do not...

Re: Colonizing Crash

I figure why not go ahead and do both. I have attached the file. The system in question is Galle.

As for me, I guess I will head over to try and compile it myself while keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get swamped with stuff way over my head. :?

Re: Colonizing Crash

Thanks for the quick response. The information listed at the top when I load the game: FreeOrion v0.3.17 [SVN 4282] MSVC 2010 It is definitely isolated to this system. I just ran it again to check: the system has two planets which are available for proper colonization (not limited due to bad conditi...
