Re: Arsenic v Phosphorous based life form discovered

What I've read somewhere, they actually forced bacteria to use arsenic. As in, there has to be lack of phosphorus before a bacteria starts using arsenic, not that it is perfectly natural for it be made up of arsenic. Anyway, it makes you wonder when will they stumble upon a more exotic lifeform, ie....

Re: web based Moo-alike tbs needs testers (not a mmo game)

Nice work! Is registration working? I've tried and haven't received activation mail. ... Return to Sol is not a Moo clone, but I freely admit to borrowing happily from Moo1, Moo2 (a bit), FreeOrion, and a few other great games. Got a lot OGame feeling in this game. Governors only issue commands when...

Re: The greatest Space Game Imaginable.. SE5

P.S. can you give me a list of hardware? ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 is all you need to know. ...it'll take a long time to kill them without cheats, but im unkillable after that point... If you have enough tech, just spam starkillers. Make node from your system to theirs, warp (optionally, close node...

Re: Problem compiling with Visual C++ Express 2008

Look like you don't have Boost and glew.h. They are not part of FO source so you have to get them separately. I don't know where to get glew.h (.h file itself is not problem but I don't know from what library it is). Boost can be downloaded at http://www.boost.org/ , though I'm not sure which versio...

Re: Been playing a bit of MoO2 lately...

I'm new here... been trying to get moo2 to work on my computers for a while... ubuntu one would not work with wine (some weird error makes it hard to play)... and my netbook would crash with the windows version... so I had to download a Dos-Dosbox version in order to get the game to run. However, I...

Re: The greatest Space Game Imaginable.. SE5

BTW, have you tried SE5 on Winows 7? When I did, there was annoying flickering. I've googled ( link ) this: 7. White flashing during the game. This is caused by old video drivers that are not compliant with DirectX 8 or DirectX 9. You should download and install the latest drivers for your video car...

Re: The greatest Space Game Imaginable.. SE5

Space empires V has given me some of the best moments in my entire gaming experience, I have never played such a customizable, interactive space civ simulator EVER that has beaten this game whole sale, I truly believe this game is the new base for space strategies across the board. I've had alot of...

Re: Colonizing with multiple ships

Jump start trick from MoO 3 an Sword of the stars. Why not! I'm not familiar with whole current FreeOrions set of ideas, can there be more than one race on same planet? If so, you don't have to limit your selfs with colonizers of same species. I already feel like annoyance advertising own project bu...

Re: Trying to understand why there is no successor to Moo2/3 yet

I just want to understand why it seems to be impossible/hard to get an orion successor! I understand that the market today consists of simple minded players going for "woot" when seeing nice graphics, but are not smart enough to get along with like Moo3. So therefore there is only a small...

Re: moo3: what's the word?

I have to disagree with Alabaster Paladin about replayability, I've played MoO 2 by almost two orders of magnitude more times than MoO 3 so MoO 2 has higher replay value for me than MoO 3. I've played MoO 3 as a game separate from MoO serial and there are things that simply make game less fun. Game ...

Re: Sword of the Stars

I've played it without expansions and liked it. Friend told me that with expansions it's even better. Game is more combat oriented then MoO serial. Colony management is similar to MoO I (may a bit simpler), few sliders, no buildings. Research is also different, everything (production, research, upke...

Re: What is your favourite alien species and WHY?

Oho, lot of Shadow and Vorlon fans. I was little disappointed when it was reveal that they are as clueless about their purpose as other races. There is also talk about living ships, remember Leviathans from Farscape? Like that concept, especial idea of treating Moya and Talon as characters. But my #...

Re: Hiding completed buildings on production screen list

That's the catch, other empires, somehow missed that part :(. I googled ( link ) to see how it is done in Civ, when multiple civ complete same wonder in same turn. Someone digged up a guide which states that every turn player order is shuffled and then simply first one to be processed wins the prize...
