Re: The Campaign Mode
Because the concept "environmental maintenance robots" is good and and its within out abilities to untie them from the original storyline. If Underling dosn't like what we've done (sadly he's not here anymore so we can't ask for advice) we could always change the name and create a fully n...

wow! I'm happy to see that someone is playing with this idea. This looks like a very nice retcon that brings them in line with current thought & keeps the core concept. Thanks for taking the time to look at them.

Re: First impressions of MoO3
oh GOD I hated that game. The vanilla version is an abomination, and after hanging in that community for a year and a half, the finished product left me so bitter, that I ripped it off my HD and never looked back. For what its worth, I heard that some of the fan made mods go a long way toward making...

update?
Do we have any update on how the Ogre integration is going? Any estimate on when an Ogre tech demo or mainline update will be ready?
I know quite a bit of work has been going on for 0.4, but little of that is visible to the public. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

Re: You guys are still here? Really?
I think there are more of us oldtimers lurking than you may suspect. I'm in here weekly to read up on the progress & I do playtest the releases.
I wish I had the time/aptitudes to do more.

Re: Diplomacy Preliminary
All interesting ideas so far. i especially like the concept of seperating an AI ruler's desires and his population's. That type of system allows for freedom of action, but penalizes diplomats (AI or real) for actions unpopular with the public, allowing PR and diplomacy to still have an effect. I wou...

Re: The Help Thread
Thanks for the clarification Geoff.
I have to say that although progress has slowed ovver the last year or so, this is a very nice step forward. The efforts of the regular contributors (you, tzlaine, tyreth, the art & music crews, etc...) should be commended.
Thanks,
The 'Ling

Re: The Help Thread
Alright, I've uploaded the new installer. Problem should be solved. Thanks! it does run now so it appears that the problem is (mostly) solved. I hesitate to mention this, but I did notice that there is significant lag when opening the production screen. I've timed it to as high as 7 seconds. This i...

Re: The Help Thread
I'm getting the same problem. Uninstalled RC5 and reinstalled 6 today. When attempting to run the program, the following windowed error message occurs: C:\Program Files\FreeOrion\freeorion.exe this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the a...

OK, finally a reason to post. I've been lurking so long I forgot what a post screen looked like. I tend to play the Orions in a similar fashion to you. As for combat itself, I would suggest that it should play a relatively minor part of the game overall. I would like it to be tactical, but wi...

My brief vision of tutorial suggestion: [...] Have you looked at the Quick Play Guide ? It covers most or all of what you suggest should be in a tutorial... I think the problem Geoff is that many gamers don't ever examine a print guide, let alone a HTML file while playing a game. If the answer is n...

We have decided to release incremental builds every month (minimum). 0.4 will take a lot of work because it's going to be a detailed combat engine. However, you can expect many more releases building up to it with bugfixes and other improvements. So, on that note: 0.3.1 is due out at the end of Jan...

Bravo gentlemen, bravo! I have anxiously been waiting to see the improvements discussed over the last year or so implemented in a new release. Hopefully 0.3 will draw back some of the old standby contributers along with the some new blood. My only question is what's the projected release date for 0....
