Re: Old Releases on Sourceforge

I suppose it's too much trouble to keep them less frequently but still occasionally for older than some time? Like weekly until 6 months, then monthly for the next 2 years?

Hello, Thank you for reaching out. We currently don't have a hard limit on storage, and after reviewing your current storage usage, we won't be removing anything further. We appreciate your cooperation However, it's always a good idea to periodically review and trim any content that's no longer nec...

Vezzra wrote: Fri May 17, 2024 11:07 am Ok, 2022 test builds deleted. That should hopefully take care of the issue.
Apparently not. I got another, probably autogenerated, message that doesn't acknowledge any previous response. I will reply asking for clarification about what they actually need done.

Re: help with implementing ARC SYPHONs

Thanks for the NoOp reminder! Also, if you wrap a ValueRef expression in NoOp(...) it will log the result when it is evaluated. Once upon a time the sitreps effect were generated in a step following the applying the other effects, so the values in the sitrep and in the actual effect could differ. S...

Re: Benchmarking

Microbenchmarking like (eg. with QuickBench ) can be helpful, though for the content / effects system in FreeOrion, it's maybe not so useful, since the cases where we care about the performance are somewhat harder to test in isolation. For example, doing a full effects update on a big game a few hun...

Re: help with implementing ARC SYPHONs

could we maybe add a debug switch to enable SitRepMessage to be executed also when normal effects processing happens and print the message to the log file instead of the sitrep? What specifically do you mean by "normal effects processing"? Maybe consider using the NoOp effect? You can put...

Re: help with implementing ARC SYPHONs

Do you need the special as an intermediate accumulator? Can't you set the desired meter to some big(ger) calculation directly?

Just Vezzra and I were in the call, and didn't have much to talk about. He'll try to get a release thread up soon.

o01eg joined about 43 min into the call (after Vezzra left) but had microphone problems.

All the available statistic types are described here: https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... Ref.h#L139 and the (non-Python) parser strings for those are here: https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/ ... r.cpp#L111

Re: Annexation feedback

It makes no sense balance-wise nor fluff-wise to prevent rebellious planets from being annexed. The "fluff" explanation would/could be that annexation is a sort of political arrangement adjustment that can't really be accomplished while there is ongoing presence of ground troops fighting ...

Re: Annexation feedback

Planet stability affects annexation cost with the same formula regardless of whether it's above or below zero. Currently, if a planet has more than one empire or rebel troops on it, annexation is blocked. I can add that to the species default annexation condition so it shows up in the UI popup and b...

FWIW civ V (not sure about others) have it so technologies are cheaper the more empires have researched them already (at least empires you've met already? That mechanic was also mentioned in the call. It's been a thing since at least Civ3, I believe. Also, Civ6's religion / pantheon mechanics are s...

Balance suggestion: make cost(s) of policies depend on number who have already adopted them. Some quirks to work out for cases where multiples adopt on the same turn. If coordinating with allies, could ne a but micromanagy... But would potentially reduce the incidence of everyone adopting the same t...
