 Post subject: Notes on v. 0.4 RC2

I ran 0.4 RC2 last night in fullscreen mode, and I've noticed two minor things that could be changed to improve functionality, and one major item that needs further investigation.

Minor
1) Alt+Tab Support. I can't alt+tab to my desktop when the game is running in fullscreen mode.
2) Numberpad Support. The numberpad on my keyboard doesn't function in-game. Tried to use it in the New Single Player Game window to input the desired number of star systems, and was unable to do so.

Major

1) The user interface does not scale properly from windowed to fullscreen mode. Switching from windowed to fullscreen, or resizing the window, caused the UI pieces to remain in the positions they would have been in for the default 1024x768 window. Note: this effect was observed when resizing the window for a game already in progress. I have attached screenshots for the affected UI areas.

The same thing happens when you change screen resolutions without going into full screen.

The UI not responding to resolution changes is a known missing feature. I don't consider this a major issue, as you can quit and restart in the new resolution to resize the subscreens. The sidepanel can be dragged around without a restart, though.

The lack of numpad key support is apparently an issue with the input library: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=544942 that is marked Won't Fix by tzlaine. Essentially, there's no way to tell if numlock is activated.

The lack of alt-tab is presumably an issue with Ogre and possibly not something we can easily fix, so if you want to alt-tab, run in a window. At least on Windows, you should be able to switch between windowed and full screen without restarting, and if you set the windowed resolution nearly equal to the fullscreen resolution, the UI non-updating layout issues will be minor.
