FreeOrion

I've downloaded the latest release and have windows XP installed. I ran FreeOrion and get freeorion.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00007618

I probably haven't installed something. Any ideas.

Look in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\FreeOrion for files named freeorion.log and ogre.log. If either are present, post again when them attached (zipped if necessary). Is suspect neither exist, though...

You might need to install the latest .NET framework update from Microsoft. The latest service pack (3 I think?) might also help. It might also just not be possible to run the latest FreeOrion releases on Windows XP, due to limitations imposed by the compiler being used. I haven't tried testing in on anything before Vista in several years.

You might also check what version of OpenGL your system supports. If it's less than 2.0, you might have issues.

Okay, I've got OpenGL 2.0

I've installed Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and still get the same problem. I couldn't find the log records anywhere.
